Due to the player not being IA on under a rookie contract (Rule G.8), the team is issued a cap penalty for half the contracted salary ($1M penalty) for the remainder of the contract. Note that due to the player retiring at the end of the S25 season this cap penalty will also come off the books at the end of the S25 season.
