After a great set of inter team scrimmages, ST Tex Star, and Victoria Falls 
were ready to take on Sydney City Academy Squad. The game started off with a goal from Winger Karry Hane but was called back for a slight offside. Later in the first half the lefty sensation Tex Star got a through ball on the break and beat the keeper in a one on one for the first official goal of the season. Karry Hane later got his revenge for his earlier offsides with a beautiful chip in shot from the right side of the box and beat the keeper. Meanwhile defensively the great effort from Victoria Falls back half kept the clean sheet for the duration of the game. In the second half Tex had a beautiful shot off the dribble outside the box and beat the keeper with a touch of curve for goal. Unfortunately, Tex wasn't able to complete the hat trick his final shot on goal was blocked and after Victoria Falls coasted to a dominant week 1 victory. The academy league was put on notice the way the fellas played together, and the new boss put them in position to succeed. When asked all Tex Star said was "we have to be better, we should've won 5-0". The kid expects greatness, and won't be happy until it is achieved holding the league trophy!
