The heat is crazy

"I never thought I would say this, but the heat here in Iceland is absolutely crazy right now"said Martin in a recent interview", When I came to this beautiful island expecting cold, cool Arctic winds and refreshing weather. Instead, I am standing here under a blazing sun, sweating through my favorite pores ;), and completely stunned by this unexpected heatwave. The locals and my teamates are just as shocked as I am, standing in weather that feels far more tropical than polar.But thank God there is a lot of ice (hehe iceland pun) around us to save the day. Every time the blazing sun becomes too intense to bear, I just look out at the massive glaciers and the frozen landscapes stretching across the horizon. Hiking near the immense ice caps feels like standing right in front of a giant, open refrigerator. The freezing breeze blowing off the majestic glaciers instantly cools my skin and keeps me from melting completely. I even dropped a clean piece of ancient glacial ice directly into my water bottle earlier today (dont tell the boss), and it was hands-down the most refreshing drink of my entire life. Iceland might be experiencing some wild summer heat, but this endless sea of ice makes the adventure perfect.
