Top SSL Goalies By Save Percentage So Far
#1
Since the PBE and ISFL are both running their drafts right now my wrist can't take doing more graphics and thus I am here to write an article for SSL.  It honestly might be the first I've ever done outside of career tasks on my last player!  Desperate times come for desperate measures.

How can I write about myself while making it seem like I'm not just writing about myself?  I know!  Let's talk about goalies in general so I can pretend I didn't just want to praise my player.  So without further ado, I give you the six top league goalies in the SSL by save percentage so far this season (although I think the index is a game behind based on the standings...maybe the player stats are updated but not standings?).

1. Snor Lax - 83.78 save percentage
1736 TPE
Team: Liffeyside Celtic FC 3-1-2

Atop of our list we get Snor Lax, the large Pokemon hailing from Japan and playing for Liffeyside.  Despite being in third place Lax has helped his team achieve the second best goal differential so far this season.  Snor seems to have spread his TPE out a bit, and putting a little more emphasis on Mental attributes than other goalies that I've seen when poking around before.  Seems like it is working well for them!

2. Maarten Slothlenburg - 82.26 save percentage
1430 TPE
Team: Catalunya FC 2-1-3

Coming in second place is yours truly!  I'm a little shocked by that since as a team overall we have a negative goal differential that comes in at the worst of all the teams in the top majors group.  Of the top six goalies on the index I have the most saves parried and held (only goalie to have 20+ of either of them) so I guess that makes sense.  I've largely tried to concentrate my TPE a bit, but maybe I should do some more mentals like our friend Snor Lax.

3. João Cancelo - 80.49 save percentage
1165 TPE
Team: Uniao Sao Paulo

Our first place team's goalie checks in at spot three, the last of our goalkeepers with an eighty or above save percentage.  Joao is doing this despite having less TPE than the other two on our list so far.  Sao Paulo boasts the leagues best goal differential and only given up less goals than Liffeyside (go Snor Lax).  At lower TPE Cancelo's build is more specialized with the important stats being high.  Keeping anticipation at 20 is interesting to me, maybe I need to bump that up too!

4. James Asprey - 75 save percentage
1870 TPE
Team: CD Tenochtitlan

Fourth place on our list brings us our highest TPE goalie so far with James Asprey.  Despite playing for the last place team in Tenochtitlan James doesn't find himself in the last spot in the save percentage list, kudos to him.  It is nice to see a sim reward a high tpe goalie with some success despite the team in front of them (looking at you SHL).  It looks like Asprey opts to hit the mentals a bit heavily like Lax.  Despite giving up the second most goals so far Asprey has manage the second most clean sheets as well.  Looks like a strong season for him despite the match results.

5. Fiery Chicken - 69.57 save percentage
1458 TPE
Team: Reykjavik United

Checking in at fifth place is my "rival" from my draft class Fiery Chicken, he must have been doing some career tasks or is better than me at predictions!  Reykjavik has a had a tough season so far, tied for the worst goal differential which has led to Chicken conceding the most goals of the goalies in the top league.  Despite some tough match results Chicken still finds himself above the bottom of the save percentage rankings.  The Chicken build seems similar to the last couple of players, an emphasis on a wide range of mentals seems to be in the plans for Fiery.  As Chicken and the team in front of them grows in TPE I expect the results to improve a ton as his career goes on, can't keep a chicken down for long.

6. Maverick Jones - 67.65 save percentage
1697 TPE
Team: Hollywood FC

I have to say I was pretty surprised to see Jones down this low.  Maverick has the third highest tpe on this list and isn't too far behind second place.  Not only that, Hollywood is sitting in second place in the index standings.  You would think high tpe plus a good team would equal more success.  Hollywood has had the most goals for, but is also tied for most goals conceded.  So it seems like some bad luck maybe?  Maverick seems to have hit the main attributes in their build pretty hard, focusing less on mentals than some others on this list.  Maybe that isn't helping their luck as well?  Who knows, the sim gods work in mysterious ways.

And there you have it, the top six save percentages as it stands in the index this morning.  It does seem like the sim rewards goalies with good TPE and builds a little more compared to a league like SHL, so that is great to see.  Keep up the good work out there keepers.
