GRADED: The Hard Work
#1
With being such a young player Josh Harper still has a few areas of the game that he is lacking in, and one of the main areas most if not all young players struggle in is their work rate, with how much effort they put in on both sides of the ball, attacking and defending without putting one to the side focusing on both while still having the energy to keep going. One of the trainings he did to work on this was before his team had a practice where they were going to scrimmage against their subs. Before it was going to happen, he kept running on a treadmill until he tired himself completely out, so he could work on still giving his all in a game-like environment while being almost completely out of energy. The second training was a mental type of training; he had to focus on putting maximum effort into every play that he was involved in, and only resting when the ball was out of play for a throw-in or a corner. The last thing he did to strengthen his diaphragm and breathing muscles was a handheld resistance device called POWERbreathe that uses pressure threshold resistance to make your breathing muscles work harder.
