As the academy season winds down, I wanted to take the time to review what the season has been like from the inside. Outwardly you guys may have noticed we have been on a roll and wondering how it was that this has happened. The short answer is we made ritual sacrifices at the start of the season, a trick that our manager picked up during his time in Tijuana. This is obviously not true, but aside from luck and the Sim shining upon us the rest really does come down to our manager Xyan. My teammates have been great and they have put together some good little soccer players, so I don't want to ignore them completely, but the real ace up our sleeve has been Xyan.
This guy is a gun on the tactics as well as the most active user in the locker room, encouraging others to be active each day. He posts a random scouting question of the day to facilitate conversation and on GameDays provides written commentary and updates as he watches. He makes sure to tag each user when they do something good or notable. In addition to this he posts the standings and box score after each game for people to review in case they can't catch the game live. Furthermore he posts the same screenshots and provides a short summary in the ISFL server for other Sim leagues, so that our teammate who isn't in the SSL server can keep up to date with what is going on.
On a more personal note, he has taken the time to teach me a little about tactics and chat to me about what we are playing, how it matches up against our opponents and what we can do to improve our odds each game. I have not been the most available or diligent student of late, but he continues to work me into the conversation each game and has been a very patient teacher.
Yes, the season isn't over yet and it is entirely possible we lose the title, but I wanted to take the opportunity to shout out our fearless leader now, in case life gets too busy with expansions, scouting and drafts over the next few weeks.
