With the season start just around the corner players are getting anxious to get into some competitive matches. Fortunately we have some friendly games this week to get everybody warmed up and give management some early look into the tactics of their squads.
With the recent draft of S27 the Reykjavik United have got a lot of new found hope for their clubs future. Five players from the draft of S27 will be joining the North Shore United for their first season of competition. Currently the North Shore United are a Division 1 team so expectations and pressure will be a bit higher for the new club members. Still the team is focused more on long term goals and strategy and lettings these young players build their skills and confidence before too many expectations. The teams young stars will be positioned throughout the pitch making a great dynamic to blend the new players in with the veterans of the club.
The media has been speculating how exactly the team will look on the opening match but so far we can determine a little bit about each new prospect:
Swiss Cheese will be in the net and the team is excited to have him. He was one of the top ranked goalies coming into the draft and Reykjavic managed to secure his rights with one of their 1st round picks. Many speculated he could be a breakout star of the season but his team will need to be performing well in front of him.
Paulie Wag is looking to become a key defensive role for the club and with two high ranked defenders from S26 to fill out the back end this player will slot in nicely for many years to come. Wag already looks to be a top player of the S27 class and proved that by going early in the 1st round to his new club.
Thomas Thunder will be focused on an attacking role this season and with 2 goals in his first 2 friendly matches his club hoped he can continue that kind of gameplay into the regular season.
Karry Hane will be a key striker alongside Rashford, the combination of the seasoned veteran and the young prospect will be great to see if the experience can pay off for the young striker in the upcoming season.
Butters Stotch comes in looking like a quality midfield player that can help the team on both ends of the pitch. He certainly looked to facilitate his role in the first two friendly matches by getting an assist in each match to help his club.
With the friendlies behind us all eyes on the calender for now until Sept 1st and 2nd when the these new players will finally get to show everybody what they are made of!
