SSL Cup: Liffeyside Celtic FC vs. Athênai F.C.

I know this game is 2 days old now, but I need to start earning some money in order to max out my player's weak foot rating and what better way to that than do a game recap of my organization's major league team's qualifying round game against Athênai F.C. From this point out I'll just use the names Celtic and AFC as a shorthand

First Half


3': Celtic went on an attack early looking to strike first. RWB Jay Cue Jr. lines up to take the corner from the left side. He kicks it long and finds Chicken McTendie. He takes a shot but Moew enBach makes a save to deny the early go-ahead goal. Mecha Zilla and McTendie fight for the loose ball and Zilla wins the battle and uses his head to clear the ball out of danger. Joseph Mathys Hendry tracks down the loss ball to try and keep it in the attacking 3rd. He dribbles the ball up the left side and attempts to get a low cross in, but Sirxo Masters intercepts the low cross and clears it

8': enBach lines up for a goal kick after another attack from Celtic fails. He kicks it deep and the pass is intercepted by Nyron Nosworthy who heads the ball to Carolien Meidema and she passes the ball back to McTendie. He passes the ball Kika Bahl and Bahl moves the ball up  a bit then passes it to Orla Hughes-Galloway. She dribbles the ball up the pitch and attempts a shot from a very difficult angle and enBach has no issue making the save. Grant Transfer manages to clear the ball and Nosworthy collects the clearance

10': Celtic is really piling on the pressure early against AFC and I'm not that surprised given that AFC is a minor D2 team and Celtic is a major D1 team. Bahl throws the ball in towards Lisfor ilovezeagLe and he passes the ball back to Bahl. He attempts to pass the ball to JMH, but Armeo Staple intercepts it and he starts to push the ball up the pitch. He doesn't't get far with Bahl marking hime closely and he tackles the ball away, to start a counter attack. He gets to the left side of the 18 yd box and passes the ball to ilovezeagLe who attempts a hot from the box boundary. Zilla manages to block the shot and force a corner. Cue Jr. takes the kick from the left side and attempts another long corner, but Don Lorenzo gets to it first and attempts to clear the ball, but Hughes-Galloway keeps it in the 18 yd box. She finds Lisfor and his 1 touch shot is deflected into the back of the net by Zilla to give Celtic a 1-0 lead early in this match

Like the commentary on the bottom of the screen says, I'm sure he wants the ground to swallow him up after that mistake

20': Celtic has another attack brewing and Hughes-Galloway has control of the ball. She passes the ball to JMH and he passes it back to McTendie. He passes the ball over to Nosworthy and he passes it right back. The ball finds its way back to Nosworthy after a 1 touch pass from Kaspars Kalinins. He passes the ball to Cue Jr. and and passes it down the right line to Leandro Dybala. He passes the ball to Huges-Galloway and she attempts a shot at the goal, but it just missed to the left and the ball goes out for a goal kick

22': AFC finally has an attack going and has a throw in. Masters throws it to Zay Bailey and he passes it right back to Masters. Masters tries to get a cross in, but McTendie intercepts it and clears the ball. Louie Duck gets to the loose ball and gets a low cross to Jonathon Muńoz and he attempts a 1 touch shot. Snor Lax is there for the save and Cue Jr. heads the ball out of play for a corner. Muńoz is set to take the corner from the left side and finds Lorenzo on the far post. He  gets his header on target, but Laz is right there to make an easy save. They do an overhand throw to Bahl and he takes on touch before passing the ball to CHG. She feels some pressure coming and does a long pass to ilovezeagLe. He manages to keep the ball in play and passes it back to CHG who is in the middle of the pitch. She passes the ball over to Cue Jr. and he attempts a shot from distance. Lisfor's shot goes over the crossbar for goal kick, you know the opective is to keep the ball under the bar right?

25': AFC has another attack going and Duck has the ball on the right side of the pitch. He tries to pass the ball to Ron Wince, but CHG is there for the intercepton and she does a 1 touch pass to Lisfor. He passes it right back to CHG and she does another 1 touch pass, this one goes to JMH. He pushes the ball up the left side and gets a short cross to CHG. She passes the ball to Cue Jr. and he attempts another shot. This shot is blocked by Berit Skovgaard and cleared towards Transfer. He pushes the ball towards midfield then passes the ball to Masters. He gets an early cross aimed for the far post, but Nosworth is there and clears it. Muńoz and Bahl race for the loose ball and Bahl manages to get there first and kick it out of play for the AFC throw in

27': Celtic has a throw in from their defensive 3rda and Cue Jr. throws the ball to Bybala. He passes the ball to McTendie and he passes the ball to JMH. JMH passes it to Kalinins and he does a 1 touch pass to CHG and she does a 1 touch pass to Cue Jr. He passes the ball to Kalinins and he passes it right back. Cue Jr. passes the ball to Dybala and he passes it back to Noworthy. He passes the ball to JMH and he passes it over to McTendie. McTendie passes it to Nosworthy and he passes it over to Cue Jr. and he starts to push it up the right side of the pitch. He gets a cross in towards Dybala and he attempts a hot but nBach is there for a save and he deflects it out for a corner. Celtic is really starting to find a good rhythm now and it's a matter of time before they score their 2nd goal of the match

Cur Jr. takes another corner from the left side and aims for the near post. Duck reads this week and clears the ball. CHG tracks it down and passes the ball over to Cue Jr. He tries to do a bit too much with it and Wince clears the ball out of danger. Bahl does a one touch pass to McTendie and he passes the ball over to JMH and he passes the ball to Kalinins. Kalinins rips a 1 touch shot from distance but it misses high and to the left and the ball goes out with AFC being given a goal kick

37': Celtic is on fire at this point and has another attack going. With the ball in the attacking 3rd, Bahl throws it in towards CHG and she cross the ball to the far post. Dybala is there and gets his header on target but enBach is there for another save and Dybala tracks down the rebound. From te looks of it Dybala attempts a cross and Duck clears it out of play for a Celtic throw. Celtic is so close to breaking this game open

43': Celtic is really starting to amp up the pressure late in the first half. Cue Jr. throws the ball to Dybala and he passes back to Cue Jr. and he passes it right back. Dybala passes the ball backwards towards Kilinins and he passes the ball to Bahl. Bahl attempts a shot and it gets deflected by Muńoz into the next. Bahl gets credit with the goal as it was determined that the shot was on target strong showing from Celtic so far as they take a 2-0 lead late in the 1st half

45': Staple kick the ball off to restart play. He kicks the ball to Bailey who does a short pass to Lorenzo and he passes it back to Skovgaad. He tries to pass it up to Transfer, but put too much weight on it and Jay Cue Jr. intercepts the pass. He dribbles the ball to the middle of the pitch and passes it up to JMH. JMH passes it back to Nosworthy and he passes it up to JMH. JMH passes it up to ilovezeagLe and he passes the ball up to Bahl. Bahl dribbles the ball up the left side of the pitch and does a short cross to Lisfor. He does a 1 touch pass back to Bahl to reset. He gets a low cross to Dybala who takes a shot, but enBach is there for another save. He has been busy this first half. The only goals he has allowed have come of defections, other than that he has been perfect

Celtic has a 2-0 lead at the half. It's going to be interesting to see if AFC makes any substitutions because they do have 2 players available and I think they must be given some game action


2nd Half

55': Pickking this one up a bit later because the opening kickoff amounted to nothing. Cue Jr. has the ball on the right side and aims a cross for the far post. Zilla is there for the interception and clears it. Bahl track the ball down to keep it in the attacking 3rd. He dribbles the ball up the left side and cuts it into the 18 yd box. He passes it to Lisfor and he starts to dribble it backwards. He passes it to Cue Jr. and he attampts another shot from distance and this one is blocked by Masters. Dybala tracks down the ball to keep the pressure on and he passes it to Kalinins. He attempts to get a cross in, but Duck intercepts it and heads the ball away. Kilinins gets the ball and passes it to JMH to reset. The highlight ends with JMH passing the ball to McTendie

57':This highlight is picked up with Nosworthy passing the ball to Cue Jr. He dribbles the ball up the right side and tries to pass the ball to Miedema and Zilla is there for the interception. He tries to head the ball to Masters, but Cue Jr. got into position to intercept it and he heads it Dybala. He passes the ball to CHG and she passes it up to Miedema. She attempts a shot from distance but it goes right into the crowd for a goal kick. Anagin this is the wrong type of football

59': Lax restarts play with a goal kick. They play it very short to McTendie who is standing to Lax's left, just outside the 6 yd box. He passes it across the 18 yd box to Nosworthy who passes it to Kalinins and he does a 1 touch pass back to Lax. He passes it back to Nosworthy and he passes it to Kalinins. He passes the ball up the pitch to Cue Jr. and the attack is on. He dribbles up the rights side and passes the ball to Dybala and he does a 1 touch pass back to JMH. He passes the ball to ilovezeagLe and he passes it right back to JMH. To be fair the pass to Lisfor didn;t have that much weight on it and it could've been intercepted. The two continue to exchange passes and the JMH does a 1 touch pass to CHG. She passes the ball over to Kalinins and he passes the ball over to Cur Jr. who found a soft spot on the right wing. He gets a cross in to Miedema who is on the back post. She gets her head to the ball to attempt a shot and finds the back of the net for Celtic's 3rd goal of the match

76': Celtic has possession and Nosworthy passes the ball to JMH. He passes the ball back to Nosworthy who takes a couple of dribbles then passes the ball to Cue Jr. He tries dribbling up the rights ide again but is cut off by Masters. He passes the ball to CHG who managed to break free. She passes the ball back to Cue Jr. and he passes it over to Dybala. During this CHG cut into the 18 yd box unmarked and Dybala passes the ball to her. She attempts a shot from a tough angle and forced enBach to make another save as he deflects the ball out of play for a corner. Cue Jr. swings it into the near post to Nosworthy, but the referee awards AFC an indirect free kick for a handball committed by Nosworthy

88': AFC is on the attack but it's looking like they will lose this one. Wince loses possession of the ball after JMH does a standing tackle to win it. He does a lob pass to Dybala on the right side. He passes the ball to CHG and she dribbles towards the right sideline. She dribbles the ball up the right side and gets a cross into the far post towards Lisfor. He directs his header towards the lefts sode of the goal and he finds the back of the net to give Celtic a 4-0 lead late in the match. There's no way AFC can comeback now as there's 3 minutes left play stoppage time

90 +2': Celtic has a direct free kick and Bahl is set up to take it. He tries to find Miedema, but Zilla intercepts it and Duck clears the ball. Kalinins passes the ball up to Cue Jr. and he passes back to Kalinins. He passes the ball over to McTendie and he passes it over to Nosworthy. Looks like Celtic is just trying to rub out the clock. Nosworthy passes the ball all the way back to Lax and they pass it to McTendie. He passes the ball to JMH and he does a 1 touch pass over to Bahlon the left side. The referee blows his whistle 3 times to signal the end of the match

Celtic got a very favorable draw to start off the SSL Cup as AFC is a team that's competing in the minors 2nd division. Knowing that this result doesn't surprise me as I would have pick Celtic to come out on top
