This is the story of Hoban "Wash" Washburne, the man of many different talents. Those of you who know the reference (the show Firefly) might be asking yourself, how did Wash get here from being a space pilot? Also, you know, the whole not being dead thing. Well, in the SSL universe, the crew found their way onto a technologically advanced planet where they discovered a cloning machine. The Wash that was skewered by the reavers was, sadly, the true Wash. However, the clone - a little taller, a little more athletic, what have you - went on to find an escape pod where he crash landed off the coast of Svalbard, an island north of Norway (technically owned by Norway, but largely self governing). The remains of the crash were taken to the nearest city (only city) Longyearbyen, where enough remained to restore the clone to working order. This date would be considered the clone's official "birth" and thus Longyearbyen would be his birthplace.
Eventually, over time he'd find a family to take him in legally, give him paperwork and the like, and make his way to the mainland and to a trial day for Tromso IL of the Eliteserien. They'd take him on as a prospect for a few years to hone his skills. He also found his way into several friendlies, U23 matches, and even the occasional cup match. However, he ultimately fell short of making his Eliteserien debut, and was released at the end of the contract.
That's where the SSL comes in. Available on a free, Hoban Washburne is a skilled defender looking to ply his trade somewhere, and for a man with no real origin, where else is better than the one truly international league? Built to handle the colder weather of teams like Montreal and London, he'd also be just fine in the warmer climes of Accra and Cairo, or anywhere else who expresses interest.
