Scott Sterling - Reykjavik's Calming Presence
#1
Currently sitting 2nd in the D2 standings, Reykjavik is 5-1-1 this season and fighting for top spot with both AS Paris and AC Romana. However probably the most notable aspect of the Icelandic side’s season so far is their defensive efforts. They have only conceded 2 goals this season is 7 games. It has been the talk when they play, as they have been a fortress on the back end, led by stud goalkeeper Scott Sterling.

While their goals for is slightly less than those of the other two teams at the top of the table with them, they aren’t too far behind. It’s interesting to see the turnaround a keeper like Sterling can bring to a team. The veteran keeper has been a part of a very strong Hollywood team for a while and his confidence in goal shows. You can see him – and hear him – commanding the back line during games, helping his teammates look out for potential weaknesses in their positioning and openings opponents may try to exploit.

In a team that has had lots of changes recently, he has been a breath of fresh air, and has been a stabilizer for the young players on the roster. He has a lot of knowledge of the game and it has started translating to smarter play from his team around him, which is a big reason why Reykjavik are sitting so high up on the table.
