Cairo City had a lot of work to do heading into the draft this offseason, and new general manager 39alaska39 knocked it out of the park on the draft floor. After losing most of the old core from Cairo City's days in Division 1, the team has begun an extensive rebuild, and this showed on the scoresheet and in the standings last season. In terms of a record, you can't do much worse than 3-0-11. Despite coming in 6th out of 8 teams, I'm sure the team felt as if they were the worst team in the league at certain points of the season.
The biggest weakness for Cairo last season was the defense and goaltending. Both of these weaknesses were addressed in the draft by GM 39alaska39. 2 players were brought in to reenfornce the back line. At pick 3, Cairo selected LWB Momo Adamu and then later in the 1st round, Alexandra Laurent, a CB. Both players are controlled by well known sim league users, hhh and boom, both of which are GMs in other leagues. In the 2nd round, Alaska selected his own player, goaltender Felix van Neuer. All 3 of these players should prove to be great additions both now and, in the future, and progress quickly.
