Reykjavik's Quest for the Cup
#1
After a draw in the previous week’s match in the quarterfinals of the cup, Reykjavik was looking to get the win needed to advance to the semi-finals. Schwarzwalder provided a very tough test in the first leg of the quarterfinals, tying Reykjavik 2-2. This was somewhat of a surprising outcome as Reykjavik has only given up 5 goals in all 8 division 1 matches they played so far this season, and Schwarzwalder was able to get 2 past them.

However, Reykjavik knew that the second leg would be where it counts, especially considering they would be heading back home to Iceland for the match. When this match started, it looked like Reykjavik was up to their dominant ways again, going up 3-0 in the first half of the game. They just had to play solid defensive football for 45 more minutes and they would be punching their ticket to the semi-finals. That’s exactly what they did. The second half was full of defensive efforts and they managed to score another one too to make the final score 4-0 (6-2 on aggregate).

Reykjavik is chasing a cup win, as it’s something that has eluded them, losing in the quarterfinals last season and losing a heartbreaking final match to Tokyo in Season 10. That one still hurts, and it’s something the players are trying to make right and finally lift that Cup trophy.
