Qingdao Soccer Weekly
As the academy season has progressed in Medellin, the Qingdao star has done the same alongside his teammates. Residing in first place with five games left, the South American academy powerhouse has everything to play for, but could just as easily fall to third under poor performances. As the pressure ramps up, the Atletico players have struggled to cash in on their early season success – still, a strong performance against North Shore may put new life into the ranks.
Our young Chinese hero was a standout player in Atletico’s most recent outing, contributing to all 4 goals in a 4-0 victory in New Zealand. The center midfielder not only provided 2 assists in the contest, but set up the assist on the go ahead goal early in the game. Zhihao was tackled inside the box to set up a penalty kick which was reliably banged in. The first 45 showed off the team’s new attacking talent, a late addition to help bolster the team’s threat going forward. The second half of the game was punctuated by strong defending across the 5 man defensive unit, and reliable goalkeeping.
With both the academy season coming to a close, as well as the SLL draft approaching, everything remains at stake for both Atletico and the rest of the academy league – aside from North Shore.
