WSFC Prediction Summaries
#1
The deadline for the WSFC predictions have now passed and some very hot predictions have been made in the responses provided. I'll summarize the top predictions for every question below.

https://files.jcink.net/uploads2/simsoccer/Emoticons/SSL_Logo_30px.png Who will be the top goal scorer of the group stage https://files.jcink.net/uploads2/simsoccer/Emoticons/SSL_Logo_30px.png

A massive 48.1% of the responses have predicted Charles-Andrew-Simon.... C.A.S.U.A.L. of https://files.jcink.net/uploads2/simsoccer/teamEmotes/africa.png to lead the group stage in goals. CASUAL is playing on a national team that consists of many of his Reykjavik teammates and with 28 goals during the entire S12 season, it's more than likely he gets a chance to put some goals in the net in the WSFC.

23.1% predicted the prolific scorer Owen Forty-Four to win the scoring race and there is always a danger of a goal when Forty-Four is on the pitch holding the league records for both league and cup career goals.

https://files.jcink.net/uploads2/simsoccer/Emoticons/SSL_Logo_30px.png Who will have the most defensive actions in the group stage https://files.jcink.net/uploads2/simsoccer/Emoticons/SSL_Logo_30px.png

Compared to the top scorer, this prediction did not have as clear of a favorite. Roberto Scarpetta got 25% of the guesses while Tamanna Whittington (17.3%), Spack Jarrow and Squall Vercetti (9.6% each) were the next favorites.

Both Scarpetta and Whittington are playing on the United Alpen Region so they will both be battling it out defensively to get their users the win on this prediction. Jarrow is the top earning defender on Africa and has long proven to be a defensive wall in the SSL while Vercetti is one of three top defenders on Canada.

https://files.jcink.net/uploads2/simsoccer/Emoticons/SSL_Logo_30px.png Which team will concede the fewest goals in the group stage https://files.jcink.net/uploads2/simsoccer/Emoticons/SSL_Logo_30px.png

Here we have a clear favorite once again with 44.2% of the predictions saying the United States will concede the fewest goals. They are in a group with the strong offense in Africa and the somewhat defensively focused Alpen region that does have the prolific Forty-Four as a striker. Interestingly Africa got 26.9% of the vote while the Baltic Sea Commonwealth got 11.5% of the votes.

The US is lead by Dalton Canders in goal, while the American Scott Sterling transferred to Africa and the Heretic is in goal for the Baltic. Three good goaltenders all with really good defenders in front of them so definitely the three favorites to win this prediction.

50% responded with Canada in Group A, a team that in the friendlies got knocked over by Africa 4-0. Their opponents in Asiania and Eastern Europe are a bit less offensively focused so they might be able to get some points from either team, disappointing the group that predicted them to not advance. At the time of completing this write-up, Canada won their first game 3-2 against Asiania after an aerial show by Sky Ryze.

57.7% responded that the Pyrenees Union will not advance from group B but they have a team consisting of experienced players in and the team in the group that have prolific scorers in Torres and Rizing. The only risk for Pyrenees is the emergency transfer of the goalkeeper, coming in as a new player into a team that got used to not having a keeper.

I group C, the defensively focused Cymru a Lloegr received 59.6% of the vote. Their player pool resulted in playing with 7 (!!) defenders during the friendlies and that will persist during the group stage. They managed to get a tie game from North Sea during the friendlies and they will face off again during the group stage. Having the third team in the group be the goal scoring machine Dutch-Deutsch Federation it's going to be a tough group.

The biggest "favorite" to miss the knockout is Alpen from group D that received 73.1% of the predictions. This group was not an easy draw for Alpen who got the two highest TPE teams against them in the US and Africa. Alpen will definitely have their work cut out for them to advance.
