Jan Van Doorne Drafted
#1
After a hectic first 2 rounds of the draft, Jan Van Doorne was 1 of 7 prospects left to be drafted that night and União São Paulo took a chance on the young wing back at 19th overall using the 3rd pick in the 3rd round, making him the 5th to last prospect taken in the draft. The young player from Amsterdam had burst onto the scene prior to the draft with 2 starts for the academy of Stockholm Idrottsklubb where he hadn't stood done anything to stand out amongst the crowd but he also did enough to prove that he is capable of playing soccer at a high level, with a highest match rating of 7.0 in his second and final match with the club. The Dutchman will be fighting for a spot in USP's starting 11 over the course of the next few seasons of his SSL career. The young wing back can take his game to the next level by working on one of his glaring issues which is his mental game that is quite frankly mediocre at best. Jan Van Doorne has a lot of work to do if he wants to get to the top but I think he is definitely capable of doing it.
