Beermann's Case of 'Heimweh'
#1
No one ever said that it was going to be easy. Being a professional soccer player was always the dream of any young boy growing up, even more so in Germany. But never were you told that you had to pretty much give up everything you had built up for yourself at home to fully make it in this career. Erik Beermann had to learn the hard way. In a short matter of time he went from his small town of Freising in the south of Germany, to Cairo for one season and now Erik had been living in Montreal for the better part of two seasons soon.

Of course getting along with your teammates made it more acceptable, but Erik could not deny the fact that there was a deep desire inside of him to go back home. To walk the streets he had walked as a boy. To meet his friends, his family. All those that he loved dearly. And in the end it was one of the reasons of why Beermann did join the organization of Montreal United and the Schwarzwälder FV - Being closer to home again if he made it to the Major Leagues. Of course they had also provided him with the best outlook on his future, a clear path available and visible to the top. But Erik could never say that being home wasn't part of his decision making.

And so every day in the gym, on the training pitch, out in the stadium or away in some other country Erik worked hard on making that dream come true. To become a player for Schwarzwälder FV and make it back home to Bavaria - or at least very close to it. After all he was someone that loved his family a lot, and being away from them always hurt. No matter how certain he was that he'd made it, there was always the doubt in his head that maybe, just maybe, he'd never be able to fully play in Germany again. That he'd always be destined to live in some foreign country, far away from everyone he knows.
It's a motivator that pushes the German midfielder to his limits.
