Bernardo Fry has been working hard on his passing - kicking the ball in the office and breaking numerous pieces of art and furniture. Every ruined vase or candlestick is another step toward success. Naturally, Fry entered this week expecting two, maybe even three assists.
It was not to be. In match two Fry made a truly ridiculous number of crosses, some of which were mildly accurate. Most of them flew far over the target and ended in a throw in the wrong way. Late in the game, the ball fell to him and he tried yet again for a killer pass - and the ball inadvertently ended up in the opposing goal. A mistake, but don't tell anyone.
Entering match three, Fry was more determined that ever to get that elusive assist stat going. Again, on a corner kick Fry received the ball and fired the pass into the mixer. The ball deflected off a defender and again found its way into the enemy goal - what is going on? Fry checked his boots for foreign objects, but he was unable to find the mini magnets that had been fixed to his laces to guide the ball on his behalf.
Discouraged, Fry spent the rest of the week on sprints and turns as a penance for his failures. Someday the assists will come.
