Jakarta - On the ascendency?

Much like that first cold sip of a pint after a long week of work, or a slow cooked pulled pork lovingly made overnight, the first win for Jakarta was made even sweeter by the long wait the suffering fans have had to put up with,

After some good performances this season, many of which have led to a close defeat after good performances, Jakarta have finally given their suffering fans something to cheer about!

In one of the most entertaining games this season, reports are coming in of a national shortage of staff, never before seen beer shortages, and red and white hoops being painted across the county in Indonesia, as fans celebrate the first win for the young Jakarta side that gave the fans something to shout about. 

The game started with a tactics change for Jakarta, a last minute addition after many weeks of practise on the training ground, and the addition of a much needed left back Ashito Aoi. Defence has never been a strong point of Jakarta, with players putting in a shift in the very attack minded side, leading to entertaining games and false dawns all season.

The game started with a lot of high pressing and attack minded play from Jakarta. Ashito had a free kick go narrowly over, and a deep cross led to Patterson almost breaking the deadlock, with the ball ending up just a bit too high to score. After 8 minutes joy spread through Jakarta as Tonto Tut won the ball in midfield before setting off Von Berg down the wing. He left cult hero ULTIMUS TERMIUS running through treacle as he burned past him and sent a wicked ball into the box, with Baker Dez firing home from 4 yards out. This sent the Jakarta fans in the stadium into a frenzy, loving the rewards their play had deserved.





Jakarta fans hadn't even made it back into their seats from celebration before Victoria Falls had responded though. A freekick from 50 yards out was sent into the box before being recycled, until a slight opening 25 yards out presented Delbasic half a chance to have a shot... and what a shot it was. It fired past Bus into the bottom corner to silence the Jakarta joy, and bring back that inevitable doubt.



It was only 7 minutes before Jakarta's joy turned into disbelief. Delbasic turned provider for Jay Jay Okocha Jr, and a cutting pass split the makeshift defence and he fired in fro 8 yards out. Jakarta fans had the feeling it was going to be another one of those days.



The half time stats were pretty even, but Jakarta supporters were downbeat, fearing that the sotry of the season so far meant another inevitable defeat was in the pipeline.



A rousing half time team talk meant that Jakarta came out with something to prove to their fans, and a second half to remember was in store.

A bright start to the second half followed with pressure being applied by the home side. Plenty of attacking play, a bombardment of corners, and the woodwork being called into action by Victoria Falls led to the inevitable equaliser, that came from a moment of magic from Tonto Tut. Picking the ball up 25 yards out, he unleashed a ferocious drive to send the Jakarta fans into bedlam, scenes resembling the last days in Rome, and an inevitable flurry of babies being named Tonto 9 months in the future, such was the strike.



 

Jakarta were clearly buoyed by the new found confidence, pressing high, applying a lot of pressure and in the 62nd minute the energy levels paid off. After an unsuspecting goal kick from Victoria Falls, ULTIMUS was spooked by the high press, giving the ball straight to Patterson, who finished with sniper accuracy into the top left corner. Such scenes have rarely been seen in the stands, beers were sent flying, fans were see hugging, kissing, removing shirts, calling long lost loved ones, anything to try and show their unrivalled joy at taking the lead again.



Patterson's goalscoring exploits this season have been a bright spark in what has ultimately been a disappointment. There was still half an hour left of the game, and Jakarta fans have learnt this season that nothing is safe. However a professional second half meant that Jakarta seen out the game and a first win of the season was well deserved!

Companies in Jakarta found that a widespread epidemic of "explosive diarrhoea" and "migraines" were rife the following day, with many fans unwilling to admit that the hangover was just a bit too much to handle.

Fans will be hoping that the rest of the season is brighter, following a tweak in tactics and the addition of some key personnel.
