With the academy season behind him, Stefan Davidović took a moment to reflect on the rollercoaster that was his first full year in the SSL. It wasn’t always smooth, and it didn’t end with a trophy, but for Davidović, it was a season that meant a lot.
“It was a chance to show what I can do,” he said. “I’m thankful for the teammates I had, the coaching staff at Istanbul, and the whole SSL organization. It’s been a crazy ride.”
Istanbul FC finished 3rd in the standings, a solid result, though not exactly what they had hoped for. “We aimed for first, of course. But 3rd place isn’t the worst. We were competitive in every match, and the fight at the top was close all season.”
Across 14 games, Davidović clocked in 1,260 minutes on the pitch. He finished with 4 goals, 3 assists, 1 Player of the Match award, and an average rating of 6.84. “Those numbers could’ve been better, no doubt,” he admitted. “But that just gives me more reason to keep pushing.”
Despite the ups and downs, he’s been on the radar of nearly every minor league club heading into the draft. “I don’t have a favorite,” he said. “Every club that reached out was respectful. Big names, great people. I’ll be happy wherever I end up.”
