Have you always wondered what your favourite players enjoy doing outside of playing on the pitch? Do they read, dance, or go out on the town? Surely there must be a way for your favourite pros to step away from the sport and unwind!
In this segment, we asked Montreal United’s
new Swiss Attacking Midfielder, Siilver Druid, what he loves to do off of the pitch.
“Ja vell, vhen I am not playing Fußball, zen I am out supporting climate activist groups. I hope zat vhen people start to notice me on ze pitch, zat I will zen be able to promote more green-positive endeavours. Naturally, it is a lot of hard vork, but I enjoy being able to climb und hike up in ze Bergen back in ze home country knowing I did my part to keep them clean.”
Druid hopes to make a positive impact through different organizations from planting trees to cleaning up oceans by stopping the flow of garbage from entering the seas at critical choke points around the globe. Research shows that 1% of rivers account for almost 80% of plastic pollution that flows into the oceans. Druid works with different ocean cleanup groups to try and clean up trash from those rivers. He hopes that playing in the SSL will give him the opportunities and resources to contribute to these causes even more.
“Other zan zat, just like anyone, I enjoy playing video games und being wiz meine Freunde.”
When asked what kinds of games he plays, he admitted that he loved anything based in and around high-fantasy.
“Ja, I love to play any kind of MMO-RPG vher you can cast ze Zauberei und so. I like vhen you can grow und build your character into a one of a kind monster killer, especially vhen you can play vith deine Freunde. Vhen I am not playing those games, I am playing ze classic shoot em’ up games – you know, vith ze guns und explosions? Ja, those are auch fun!”
