Even with a delayed offseason, or rather a discombobulated offseason, Shanghai soldiers on and is ready to make the necessary changes and moves to take a step forward in the coming season. While Shanghai ended up at the bottom of the table to close out S20, it could be argued that they played well above their standing down the stretch. You could see the spark there in the youth that they had drafted in the expansion draft really start to come to life.
Not only is that how it felt, but it can be argued that it can be physically seen when looking at the draft leaders for the S20 class. Looking at the top 15 for S20, Shanghai currently boasts a whopping 4 players in that top 15, and the highest overall earner currently in that class in Marcel Voda. This, paired with the experience that was brought on during the Expansion draft itself lends credence to what both Shanghai supporters and the team itself saw at the tail end of S20. The pieces are there, and it's just a matter of time before the Dragons are taking the league by storm.
What does next season have in store? Perhaps, they win an 19 leg PK shootout to advance to the Cup semis instead of losing. But the tides will begin to turn soon
