An easy season for Predrag
#1
Liberating was the word that came to mind. After 2 seasons of nothing but stress that was only self inflicted, Predrag looked around and saw how fun playing football at Montreal really was. It was a good team, made of good people. All of them wanted to succeed but none would kill for it. Perhaps it came from a need to prove himself, but Predrag felt like he was constantly letting Montreal down last season. Of course he wasn't and nobody was telling him otherwise, but the mind is a tricky thing.

Now he looked at the season as just a fun journey. He wasn't stressed when Montreal kept loosing to Kaapstad, they all played well, they just got unlucky three games in a row. There would be a fourth. Yes, it would most likely determine the winner of the Minor league but it didn't matter, it was a game like any other. Predrag looked out from his balcony. A cheap tea in his hand as he greeted the morning sun. No he wasn't up early for training, he stayed up all night gaming. The Predrag from last season wouldn't be able to imagine this behavior. He had Seoul to prepare for. Not only as a player but also as a tactician. He took a sip of his cold tea.

He received a notification on his phone. "Шта сад који курац?" was the first thought that entered his mind. It was a message from Rachel, one of the people working in the analytics team. She was asking if he'd be present for the tactical meeting. Instead of responding with a simple yes or no, Predrag sent her a PDF going over a tactical plan he made for Seoul in advance. It was simple, It didn't need to be perfect. Not every game was a cup final. The tactic was good enough and the players were more than qualified to carry it out. He didn't need to do much more, or worry about anything. He realized he was out of tea, so he poured himself some sugar free soda. Same mug, he was too lazy to clean it now.

He logged into his forum account, he found it fun to go undercover as a fan and see what the fans were talking about. Apparently according to some, he was the only one who had a chance of beating Belmont for the Minors Golden boot. He didn't really care, but it was fun to see he more than doubled his total from last season, and he wasn't even done yet. He turned off his laptop and went on a morning jog but really it was an excuse to visit a store that was far away from his place. It was the only store in Montreal that had an energy drink he liked from Serbia. He was still partially addicted to them.

He reflected on how "easy" this season was. Not the games, he still had to give 110% every time. No, something just felt better about his second season in Montreal. he didn't punch the ground for every miss, he knew Power would find another pass. He didn't shout at every bad deflection, he knew Xavier would batter their striker. He wasn't pissed at poorly timed runs, he knew Dina would stretch out their defense. It showed in Predrag's plays, seventeen goals and counting, a cheeky three assists to throw in as a bonus. Not to mention five Player of the match awards.

He finished his lap and arrived at the stadium early, they would win the league. Not because they had to or because they earned it. No, simply because they could.

This dramatic retelling of events was written by Predrag Dobrić and sponsored by Montreal United. MTL
