2025-08-31, 10:27 PM - Word count:
During the off season Fry worked on his skills - adding Agility, Pace, Acceleration, Finishing, Dribbling, and even some Off the Ball. All of these together leave Fry standing well on the left side of midfield, uncontested for the role. Week one is against Xelaju Cosmico FC - to battle!
His skills were immediately apparent on a 40 yard through ball onto Qartista's run, finished in nice order. Shockingly, VAR asked for a second look, and the goal was disallowed for offside. Still, a great start!
A wild scramble in front of the net ended up with Tathile scoring from an offside position, but VAR was no longer in the mood and the goal stood, putting Xelaju up 1-0.
Fry beat the defense again with a nice give and go, but the cross was parried just wide. Having been promoted to corner kick taker on both sides, Fry whipped another fine cross in, but no joy was had.
Xelaju found another scrappy goal to go up 2-0 for halftime.
Varnson stepped on for Bernardo at halftime, having sustained a fair amount of disappointment in the first half and saving up for the long season ahead.
Back on the bench, Fry cracked open a Slurm Plus and watched Varnson writhe on the ground with a shattered fibula - fortunately not a serious injury in the modern medical age. The upgraded skills looked effective in the first half, in particular the Agility and Off the Ball skills putting him into superior locations to receive passes.
A fine season is ahead, but not today. 2-0 was the final score.
