Walker: My Debut Season
#1
With the debut season of Luke Walker now over, I thought now would be a good time to reflect the season gone by.

With team expectations low for the season ("Do not finish last!" will forever ring in my ears after the manager used this as part of most his pre-match speeches) the 5th place finish was a welcome sight for all the players and coaching staff. The start of the season was slow with Eagles waiting a number of games to finally get their first win. The coaching staff being particularly ruthless during training ensuring the players understood the task ahead and not to take it lightly. A picture of the our manager Raiola kicking Conner Reed up the arse with the phrase "The beatings will continue until chances are taken" did however show his humorous side and happened to merge with Reed's best run of games. Results picked up and while spectacular at times, inconsistency was always around the corner and usually was a corner the cause of it. Too many goals conceded from set-pieces stop our momentum almost as quickly as it started.

The coaching staff showed their trust in my ability to dictate play with the stats showing I had attempted and played the most successful passes in the whole of the league (1071:981). Often the assist to the assist. Clearly having this backing from the team pushed me to be the 25th best player on the pitch (according to average rating) which is very good considering the center midfield position, with the usual suspects of goal scorers ahead of me.

All in all it was an enjoyable season, with many laughs and great victories shared with the team with surely more to come in the coming seasons. Who will draft this once youngster? From the streets of Belfast in Northern Ireland, who kicked a football from dawn to dusk, putting the ball between peoples legs as they walked to work and laughing while he did it. The top is calling, will Walker be able to answer?

It was a great end of the season for the Eagles, and for Walker.
