In what can only be considered a frantic coverup of Kaspars Kalinins’ post-draft crashout, Liffeyside has conveniently forked over some extra cash on top of standard rookie contracts to their new draftees. By making sure everyone gets a little extra, they hoped that no one would remember Kaspars’ financial woes. But, dear reader, we never forget.
Although, this may in fact be seen as a boon to Kaspars’ teammates, as they come into the season with extra cash in their pocket, which means better training to be had. And with Kalinins trying his absolute best to erase his debts, not only has he received a bailout, but he may also end up further ahead than before, continuing his prolific advertising schedule. So while this all began from some draft night shenanigans that could never be considered positive, it seems to have ended up alright for just about everyone involved. Ownership had to fork over a few more stacks, but they’re simply getting used to what a cap-nearing team would look like when they inevitably hit their competitive stride in the coming seasons.
We’ll see how exactly this financial bailout affects the team coming into the season, and just how much better the team may be because of it.
