Kaspars Kalinins has been given an additional task, on top of his extensive personal training, and that is to convince Matt Oopsie Wrongsport Turk, that he is, in fact, playing the correct sport. Turk is known to be quite the footballer, at least as it is reported by American news outlets, but when he arrived in the SSL academy, there was a bit of confusion, as Matt had never kicked a football before, and kept trying to tackle people and pick up the ball. But eventually, he figured out that the world is larger than his home US of A, and began to pick up that we weren’t talking about the same sport.
Kalinins, being his midfield partner, is taking the charge in getting the pair game ready for their upcoming Minors debut. They’ve been doing drills with their hands tied up, to train the body to not use the hands. They’ve also tied a ball on a string around their ankles, getting used to interacting with the ball in all of their actions, so as to not trip over it, or forget it is there. And of course, re-fitting the old passing machine to allow the two of them to practice recovering the ball with their head, chest, and legs.
Soon, I think we might even get to meet Matt Wowzers Rightsport Turk, but it’ll take a bit more training I think!
