C.F. Catalunya has definitely had an interesting start to their first season in existence. Some may have expected Catalunya to be where they are currently at in wins, with currently only two wins so far after 12 matches played. This currently ties Tokyo S.C. for the lowest amount of wins in the league so far. However, what has not been completely expected, is that with only two wins, Catalunya somehow finds themselves in the middle of the pack when it comes to the league table. They currently sit fourth in the league table, 7 points behind Inter London, and tied in points with Montreal United (their expansion counterparts), being ahead of them on goal differential.
What has been incredibly surprising is the amount of draws that Catalunya has had this season, giving them the nickname of Drawtalunya. Catalunya currently sits with 7 draws out of their 12 matches played. It is likely that Catalunya will set a league record for draws in a season that may not be matched or surpassed for many seasons. In fact, in the inaugural season of the SSL, the highest amount of draws any team had that season was a single draw. Next closest to Catalunya in draws this season are Athenai F.C. and Tokyo S.C., who both have 3 draws so far this season.
Some may say that Catalunya has shown great tenacity to be able to get points out of this many games so far this season having only lost 3 games, especially in their inaugural season as an expansion team.
