Zaza Banana is ready to turn it up a notch for the North Shore United. After failing to advance past the group stage in the World Simulation Football Classic, Banana had a long time to reflect and figure out his next steps towards getting to the major league. Despite the agonizing defeat, Banana is determined more than ever and still feels the need to prove himself as long as he remains in the minors. Over the offseason, he took a trip back to his home country Cameroon where he visited family and friends and spent a few weeks getting some well deserved rest and relaxation before getting back to the grind. Banana trained with his old academy coach in Yaoundé and learned a few things, notably he worked on using his left foot to strike better.
As he was making arrangements to head back to New Zealand, he learned some interesting news. Longtime Reykjavik striker Alessandro del Pirlo is coming to North Shore for his swan song and Banana hopes to learn a great deal from him before his retirement. He welcomes the competition to see who can score the most before the end of the season and recently told the media it will be like the competition from The Lord of the Rings books where Legolas and Gimli would count how many kills they got. While it will probably be less gruesome on the field between Del Pirlo and Banana, North Shore will clearly benefit and the duo should be a force offensively.
