Reykjavik Well Represented in All-Time Records
#1
I’m not sure why it took me to now to begin perusing the Career Records section of the SSL Portal. I’ve been in the league since creating for S18, and have not – before today – taken the opportunity to really take even a first cursory glance at the best all-time statistical marks in league history.

Doing so today has made me proud to be a member of the Reykjavik United organization. The lists are decorated with past and present Reykjavik greats.

Let’s start with the all time goals scored list. Six of the top 11 all-time goal scorers are former or current Reykjavik players. Two of them – Alessandro Del Pirlo (8th all time with 280 goals in 259 appearances) and Mikko Rashford II (9th all time with 175 goals in 164 appearances) – are my current teammates and still have opportunities to climb the charts, so to speak. Rashford is a particularly intriguing case study, as he is currently averaging better than a goal per appearance, something no other player in the top 20 has done. With longevity, his pacing would put him track to flirt with that all-time mark of 292 goals, held by Owen Forty-Four.

Reykjavik boasts the top-two all-time assist leaders as well in Henry Andrews and Furious Chicken. Current RU player Marco Tentacles occupies the 6th spot, just 3 assists behind the 3rd spot, as well. Five more RU players rank in the top 20.

It hasn’t been all offense for Reykjavik, either. The organization similarly claims the top two all-time tallies for clean sheets by keepers, with Scott Sterling holding the record at 106 clean sheets in 305 appearances and Brick Wall Jr. holding the number two spot with 81 clean sheets in 223 appearances.

The more you dig into the record books, the more variations of lists you peruse, you consistently find that Reykjavik United logo standing strong among the league’s current and all-time greats.

Will George Shaheen crack any of these record lists? Probably not. But spending all of his career fto this point with such a storied organization is still something to be take pride in.

Reyk has a great history. Lets hope they continue their winning ways soon and hope George gets into those books!
