The problem with having a last name like “Boudreaux” is that some people seem to make up their minds about you as soon as they see the name. Some think of someone from the past that had so much unrealized potential, while others feel that it sounds oddly familiar and produces memories of success in other sports. There may be others who see the name and wonder what the big deal is, they have not heard of the name so they do not see why it really matters. No matter where you are on that spectrum, to me, it is just my name. I know I have relatives that have had success in other places. I know that I have other relatives that seemed to have everything in place to be a success in other sports..hell…I had some relatives play football, just never made it to the upper levels of the game. Life happens and, from what I know, that is what took them away from the sport they loved. But I can not speak about them, they lived their lives, just like I am going to. A name that carries expectations with it can be either a blessing or a burden. But to me, it is my name and I will write my own legacy.
