As the North Shore season trudges on, so too does one SSL star’s quest for one of the league’s most hard to reach milestones.
12 years ago, Alessandro joined the Reykjavik franchise. Few could have guessed what a prolific professional he would be in his time with the club.
In 17 appearances that first year with North Shore ADP notched his first three goals of his career. A slow burn to start what would eventually be a scorching pace. But as the second season would approach, the talent began to shine. A first annual campaign with double digit goals would happen in ADP’s sophomore season, the SSL’s 14th league year. And from there, Alessandro never looked back. Eleven, Eighteen, Sixteen, Thirteen, Twenty, Thirteen (again) and then…Twenty Six…
Among the most prolific scorers the league had ever seen. Averaging north of 15 goals per year over those campaigns, it wasn’t long before folks started to see 200 was a real possibility.
And here we sit, just 6 matches into this latest trip around the sun and ADP is just 6 goals shy of the 200 mark. With any luck, it’ll be match 11 or 12 of this season where the great finally notches the milestone. An entire career and 200 goals with a single franchise. An achievement certainly worth celebrating.
Even more impressive when you consider North Shore is hunting a minors title this season, where they currently sit atop the division one standings. Just ahead of AS Paris in a quest for a cup. If North Shore are going to have a real shot to round out the year with some hardware, their going to need a golden boot from Del Pirlo and that 200 milestone mark to fall along the way.
