the art of the midfielder
#1
Hello everyone, I want today to talk a bit more about the most important position in football : the midfielder.

So, first of all, why the midfielder is so important ?

1) First, the midfielder have to do every job on the pitch, he have to defend, attack, take the space, close the game, score, assist and of course, doing great passes.
2) Without a great midfielder in your team, you will never control the pitch, the midfielder has to be calm, but also aggressive when they have to.
3) When you control the midfield, everything is possible, look at Barcelona back at the time, with Xavi, Busquets and Iniesta, the real tiki-taka, nothing could pass through this midfield, it was literally a black-hole for every opponent.

So, how have to be designed your midfield ?

You have, of course, many option. When you play with this usual 4-3-3, the goal is to keep the possession of the ball, waiting to have the possibility to shoot on target, your number 6 have to stay just in front of your defenders to dictate his tempo and control the match, when your two other midfielder can play as Box to Box or, more frequently, one B2B and another midfielder to stay just in front of the box.

You can also play with 2 midfielder like in 4-2-2 or in a modern 3-4-3 where you then need to have a great capacity to keep the ball under pressure as they will always be outnumbered by a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1. Your goal is then to pass the ball directly to the winger so they will take more space. Your midfielders have then less importance in the attacks of your team.

I hope this article has helped you to learn more about this Wonderfull position that is the midfielder.

Have a great day.
