New Home, Bright Future
#1
Draft day was an interesting one. For Sei, it meant a lunch break between training with former vets of the sport on a world level, who were invited to the club by the training staff. The last several days have been this way since the departure of the manager, Cam @CamGoldenGun . The season could have more wins, but the academy and Sydney were both an experience Sei will never forget.

After talks with various organizations managers and scouts over the last few weeks, Sei had some ideas in his head for potential landing spots, and some that he was low-key hoping for. One of those thoughts rang true, when he heard his name called early on in the broadcast on the TV in the academy lounge. "Shanghai and Magyar Organization drafts S Sei at the fifth overall pick." Excitement fills Sei faster than shock; visions of future matches fill his head and he is unable to react vocally. The rest of the team congratulates him, along with messages on his phone too. The rest of the lunch break is a blur, too much information flows through his head about the new version of himself before his path.

Later that night, he found out from his texts with Wolfe @Bloodless that Wolfe had been drafted by Hollywood in the 2nd round. It wasn't a suprise that they would end up in different places again, but Sei firmly believes Wolfe should have been valued higher. However, it was a large draft with serious quality depth, so value extended far past the first round.

Training never stops, Sei spent every efficient moment left at the academy working to improve. After all, it was his drive, effort, and personality that stood above his academy performances. The Sei of the future is what Shanghai saw, in order to value him so highly. "I will become the best player and support my team in every way, and will make it sooner than expected," he thought to himself.

Faster than the flash of light of the rising sun through his window, a set of tickets were on his desk in the dorm's common area. The first was a train ticket for later that morning. After a gym workout, Sei got his things packed and headed out.

The SSL had their own private charter train, luxurious and quiet for concentration. It would arrive at an airport a few hours later. Potential boredom in an enclosed space was quickly interrupted. Two familiar faces were on the same train. Josh Harper @JCPro and Tim Quackareedoo @canard101 were here. Somehow, the night before was such a blur that Sei didn't realize they were also drafted to the same organization. A fresh new taste of excitement came like a wave, and the three shared their journey together towards a new team but existing comradery.

Their first stop would be Shanghai, China, after a cruise as part of the offseason vacation plan. Sei didn't rest more than usual, but the rest was far better than a quiet little room. Afterwards, the three of them met their managers and other teammates, both vets and other newly drafted rookies. Picking out their preferred kit number and getting fitted for their own kit shirts and shorts, reality started to seep in. They were on their way to a new field, a new season, a new experience, and a greater challenge. Sei was hungry for every moment of it. An overnight flight to Budapest, Hungary would lead the new group of rookies to their next stop. Which they will continue to train and play on the fields of the minors in the SSL, until any of them are called up to represent the majors team of Shanghai.

Another step forward. Sei continues to walk his path.
