With the start of the World Cup, I wanted to write a short article. There is a lot to talk about this World Cup, but I would like to avoid the most controversial topics. So I figured, lets talk about something I spend a bit of time with:
Germanys Road in the Word Cup.
First we have to get through the group stage. With the new system in place, it should be manageable. With that being said, I am certain we will find a way to shit the bed. With us in Group E will be Ecuador, Ivory Coast and Curacao. While we are most likely to finish first, both Ecuador and especially the Ivory Coast can be dangerous. Just last week in their last friendly the Ivory Coast managed to beat France, one of the favorites to win the World Cup, with 2:1.
Lets pretend we win the group, in the first round we will meet the third placed team of Group A, B, C, D o F. That will be someone the likes of Czech Republic, Schottland or Sweden. Germany would be favorites, but again, we certainly could struggle already. The next round is where we would then probably meet the winner of group I, if they advance from the first round. This second round is where I expect Germany to go out if there are no upsets until then. Group I consists of France, Iraq, Norway and Senegal. If we meet France, I dont think we will be able to prevail.
Lets say we finish second, we would potentially meet Brasil in the second round. Once again, I dont think we will win against them.
My prediction is for Germany to exit the World Cup in the second round. Where do you see Germany going? Where do you see your team?
