ACADEMY TASK 5 = FM Final Boss. Why I'm here.
#1
SSL is the Final Boss of Football Managers sims. Even though its obv based on soccer, its a lot different from most soccer video games i play (Fifa-I refuse to call it EAFC) because players dont actually control what happens during the matches. People creating there own virtual player and developing them over time while the games are run through a simulation is more like DnD. I think thats what makes it interesting because it focuses more on strategy and team building instead of just being good with a controller (which i am not). Ive spent my entire life playing "manager mode' in every sports game on every console. This is a whole other beast.  Im a sports fan in a friend group of RPG guys so this is perfect mix for me that sounds weird because one is soccer and the other is a fantasy roleplaying game, but they actually have a lot in common. In both games you create your own character and decide how they develop over time. In D&D you might build a warrior, mage, or rogue, while in the SSL you decide if your player will become a striker, midfielder, etc.  The community side of things feels really similar too. In DnD you usually working together with a group one quests and deal with whatever the DM throws at you. In the SSL your working with teammates and managers trying to win games and championships. Its also like DnD because youre working together and not just one person carrying everybody else. Both groups are alsohave to be really creative. Some ppl write stories about there player, make graphics, create podcasts, or post news or draft recaps which makes the league feel alive. Kind of like how D&D players come up with backstories and personalities for there characters. Because of that, the SSL feels like more then just a soccer simulation. Its almost like roleplaying as a professional soccer player.  While its impossible to know off the top which position or "build" is right for you and the sim, there is still the same character building aspects.

The  ability for people to run thier own teams is really appealling. Idk if its possible but if someone is reading this and would be willing to teach me what being a GM entails I would be super appreciative. Or if you need an assistant I would be 10000% interested so just let me know.  Its intimidating to think about because I just started sim leagues in March. I joined the ISFL and it was my first sim league ever. Like this league, everyone has been super helpful and welcoming.  But having no idea what im doing makes me feel like a burden to other people asking them to hold my hand through every single f***ing thing.  So if there is someone out there that isnt afraid to walk a guy through what management entails i again plead for you to reach out to me. Im willing to learn, will actually invest time, and have a lot of downtime. With all that being said im super excited to get my career rolling and want to give a few shoutouts to the people that convinced me to join. Croney and Xyan were someof the most helpful ppl when i joined DSFL welcomed me with open arms. Because of thier patience and personalities it was an easy decision to come here too. Theyre my GOATs and I appreciate the hell out of them.
