Minors league (1 & 2) Goalkeeper statistics

Hello everyone, this weeks excuse: No goalkeeper impact model because I haven't created it yet for the minors and for some reason it is generating errors when I add it to my webapp. I PROMISE I will fix it! I have so many promises at this point..

Average rating
A goalkeeper's average rating is kind of weird in FM, you can have a great game but it wouldn't necessary reflect that in your rating. This seasons rankings so far are relatively close with less than three quarters of a rating point separating first from tenth.



Benecio Aguilera III leads the way with an impressive 7.37 average rating and finishing comfortably ahead of the rest of the field. Rean Schwarzer follows in second on 7.22 while Duncan Walrusson completes the top three with 7.06.
Just behind them is Brick Wall Jr. on 7.04, narrowly missing out on the top three but the last to be part of the 7.0 and higher average rating club. Domingo Hernández and Umaq Yupanqui share fifth place with identical 6.97 ratings. By for the most competitive placements.

The remainder of the top ten is also very lose. Turd Ferguson records 6.92 ollowed by Joseph Daniel Kakou on 6.89. Cory Stevens claims ninth with 6.81 hile Bartholomew Twinkletoes rounds out the rankings on 6.66.

The most interesting thing here is the  consistency across the position. With only 0.71 average rating separating the entire top ten. The margins between these goalkeepers are small, meaning that a handful of strong performances could quickly change the order in the ranking as the season goes on.

Saves tipped
Tipped saves are among the most spectacular actions a goalkeeper can perform and often what highlight reels are made of. Whether pushing a cannon of a strike around the post or stretching to divert a curling effort over the crossbar. These saves often require fast reflexes, solid positioning and a bit of flair and agility. The ranking has a clear leader before becoming tightly contested through the remainder of the top ten.



Brick Wall Jr. tops the rankings with 16 tipped saves, establishing a healthy advantage over the rest of the field and doing honor to his name. His total is four clear of the nearest goalkeeper. Showing both his shot stopping ability and the number of difficult saves he has had to make this season so far.

Sharing second place are Umaq Yupanqui and Duncan Walrusson both recording 12 tipped saves. Their performances place them just ahead of the chasing group while keeping within striking distance of our leader in this statistic.
Bartholomew Twinkletoes follows with 10 before another close fight in the rankings come along. Cory Stevens, Joseph Daniel Kakou and Domingo Hernández all sit on 9, showing us just how little separates several of the league's top shot.. tippers?

The final three places are occupied by Moew enBach with 8 tipped saves, Lencho Ash on 7 and Turd Ferguson on 6. Completing a statistic where the margins quickly tighten beyond the leading trio.

Unlike routine saves tipped saves are often part for the most dangerous efforts on goal. Brick Wall Jr.'s clear lead suggests he has repeatedly produced the kind of high difficulty saves capable of changing the outcome of matches.

Saves parried
Parried saves occur when a goalkeeper prevents the ball from going into the net but cannot immediately claim the ball in safe hands, instead pushing it away from danger, hopefully. They often come from powerful or awkward shots where prevention is the main objective, whatever happens in the aftermath happens. This statistic is led by two goalkeepers who have been particularly busy, while the rest of the top ten remains closely contested.



Joseph Daniel Kakou leads the category with 29 parried saves narrowly edging Cory Stevens who finishes on 28. The pair have clearly been among the busiest goalkeepers when dealing with difficult efforts that require quick reactions rather than clean handling. Atleast we are using the assumption that they were difficult shots and not that they just like playing hot potatoe with the ball.

Umaq Yupanqui sits third with 23 followed closely by Benecio Aguilera III on 22 forming our second tier behind the leaders.
The middle of the table is especially competitive. Bartholomew Twinkletoes records 19 parried saves while Domingo Hernández, Brick Wall Jr. and Duncan Walrusson all share sixth place with 18. Turd Ferguson follows on 17 with Moew enBach completing the top ten on 15.

An interesting trend emerges when comparing this category to tipped saves. While familiar names appear across both statistics the order changes considerably. Showing the different types of saves goalkeepers are tasked with making. Some excel at producing spectacular fingertip interventions while others are more frequently forced to parry powerful shots where simply diverting the ball away from goal is the priority.

Saves held
Held saves are the bread and butter of a solid goalkeeper. Rather than simply keeping the ball out and not worrying yet about the aftermath, these saves bring attacks to an immediate end by preventing rebounds and allowing the defence to reset and for the team to take a breather. This statistic reflects a healthy mix of commanding handling and consistent shot dstopping, with several familiar names appearing once again.



Duncan Walrusson leads the category with 24 held saves and setting the benchmark for this season so far. His ability to safely gather shots rather than push them away has helped him edge ahead of the other goalkeepers in this division.
Just behind him Joseph Daniel Kakou and Brick Wall Jr. share second place with 22 held saves each. Both have featured across the other goalkeeping statistics reinforcing their reputation as reliable allround shot stoppers.

Turd Ferguson occupies fourth place with 20 while Cory Stevens follows closely on 19. The table then continues its gradual decline with Domingo Hernández on 17 and Bartholomew Twinkletoes on 16.
The final three places are held by Umaq Yupanqui (15), Rean Schwarzer (13) and Moew enBach (12). Completing our top ten where the differences remain relatively small outside the leading group.

Comparing the different save types shows us the preferred "style" of the goalkeepers in this division. While some appear more frequently in the tipped and parried save categories Duncan Walrusson's division leading total for held saves suggests an ability to control shots cleanly and reducing second chance opportunities and bringing attacks to an immediate stop.

Conceded
Goals conceded is a statistic that really requires additional context as it is not always the goalkeepers fault when a goal is concedeed. While it does shows how often a goalkeeper has been beaten it is also heavily influenced by the quality of the teams defence, the volume of shots they have faced and also the quality of the opponent. Even so, this statistic provides an interesting glimpse of which goalkeepers has had the busiest days over the course of the season so far.



Cory Stevens, Moew enBach and Joseph Daniel Kakou jointly top the table with 26 goals conceded. Sharing first place the trio have faced the greatest number of goals against although that may equally point to the amount of pressure their respective defences have been under.

Bartholomew Twinkletoes follows with 24 conceded before the totals begin to fall off more gradually. Lencho Ash sits fifth on 21 while Brick Wall Jr. and Umaq Yupanqui both record 20, creating another closely matched battle for the rankings.
Further down the rankings Turd Ferguson and Duncan Walrusson share 17 goals conceded while Domingo Hernández rounds out the top ten with just 11. Comfortably the lowest total among the listed goalkeepers.

One of the more interesting observations is the contrast with the saves statistics. Several goalkeepers who rank highly for total saves also appear near the top for goals conceded. This means they have simply faced a greater volume of shots.

Save%
Save percentage is one of the easiest indicators to understand to measure a goalkeepers shot stopping ability. Measuring exactly how often a goalkeeper prevents shots on target from becoming goals. Unlike the raw save totals this statistic places every goalkeeper on equal footing by focusing on percentages rather than volume.



KRUNG THEP GOALKEEPER tops the leaderboard with a perfect 100% on saves. He has successfully stopping every single shot on target he faced. While maintaining a flawless record is impressive, it is important to remember that percentages can be (heavily) influenced by sample size. And in this case it is since he has only played half a match and I should have really filtered him out. Oopsie.

Among the regular starters Benecio Aguilera III stands out with an outstanding 88.6%, comfortably ahead of the rest of the field and is the "real" first place in this statistic. Domingo Hernández follows on 80.0% making him one of only two goalkeepers to reach or exceed the 80% mark.

The next group is closely contested. Rean Schwarzer records 76.9% narrowly edging Duncan Walrusson on 76.1%. Brick Wall Jr. sits sixth with 73.7% while Turd Ferguson (71.7%) and Umaq Yupanqui (71.4%) remain separated by only fractions of a percentage.
The top ten is completed by Joseph Daniel Kakou with 69.8% (hehe) and Cory Stevens on 68.3%.

Comparing alongside the goals conceded and save volume statistics this statistic provides valuable context. Goalkeepers facing a high number of chances can still rank among the divisions most efficient shot stoppers. This makes save percentage one of the clearest measures of individual goalkeeping performance.

xSave%
Expected save percentage estimates how often a goalkeeper would be expected to stop the shots they face based on the "quality" of the chance. Unlike traditional save percentage, this statistic accounts for shot difficulty providing context when comparing goalkeepers who have faced very different workloads.



KRUNG THEP GOALKEEPER leads the rankings with an expected save percentage of 92.0% comfortably ahead of the rest of the goalkeepers. While that figure reflects the difficulty profile of the shots faced rather than actual performance, it sets the benchmark for this category. Again, keeping in mind he has played half a match and shouldn't even be in here but now that he is here, I am using the opportunity to up my word count, fight me.

The battle for second(first) is incredibly close. Rean Schwarzer records 85.0% narrowly edging Benecio Aguilera III on 84.1%. Brick Wall Jr. (83.9%) and Cory Stevens (83.8%) are separated by only fractions of a percentage. This group of goalkeepers is incredibely close matched.
The middle of the leaderboard continues the same trend. Domingo Hernández sits sixth with 82.6% followed by Turd Ferguson on 81.6% and Moew enBach on 81.4%.

Rounding out the top ten are Joseph Daniel Kakou with 80.5% and Duncan Walrusson on 79.2%.

Comparing this table with the actual save percentage rankings offers an interesting view. Goalkeepers whose save percentage exceeds their expected save percentage have generally outperformed the quality of shots they faced while those below expectation may have been less efficient than the underlying numbers shows us. Together the two metrics provide a much more clearer picture of goalkeeping performance than either can on its own.

Penalties faced
Penalties are probably the toughest situation a goalkeeper can be in, some specialize and train for them, others toss a coin and yolo it. With the odds heavily in favour of the penalty tacker, facing multiple penalty kicks over a season can have a noticeable impact on a goalkeepers statistics. This leaderboard reflects opportunity rather than ability showing which goalkeepers have been tested most often from the spot.



Cory Stevens and Umaq Yupanqui jointly top the table after each facing 2 penalties making them the busiest goalkeepers from the penalty spot. While the sample size remains small they have been forced in this situation more often than any other goalkeeper in this season so far.

A group of five goalkeepers follows with 1 penalty faced. Bartholomew Twinkletoes, Duncan Walrusson, Moew enBach and Turd Ferguson have all dealt with a single peanlty during the season giving them at least one opportunity to heavily influence the match.
The remaining goalkeepers in this top ten get a special shout out but haven't faced any penalties.

Penalties saved
Stopping a penalty is one of the most adrenaline inducing moments for a goalkeeper. With the taker heavily favoured to score every successful save has the potential to change the course of a match. As expected, the numbers remain low across the league since the sample size is so small making each save particularly valuable.



Three goalkeepers share top spot with 1 penalty save each. Duncan Walrusson, Umaq Yupanqui and Turd Ferguson have all denied a penalty this season, performing one of the most difficult saves in football when their teams needed it most.
The remainder of the leaderboard consists of goalkeepers who are yet to record a penalty save but are getting their special shout out. Benecio Aguilera III, Bartholomew Twinkletoes, Domingo Hernández, Cory Stevens, Brick Wall Jr., Joseph Daniel Kakou and Lencho Ash all sit on 0.

Both Duncan Walrusson and Umaq Yupanqui faced penalties this season and converted those opportunities into saves while Turd Ferguson maintained a perfect record by saving the only penalty he encountered.

xG prevented
Expected goals prevented is one of the most revealing goalkeeping statistics available. It shows the quality of shots faced with the number of goals actually conceded. Showing how many goals a goalkeeper has effectively saved above or below expectation. Positive values indicate a goalkeeper has outperformed the shots they faced while negative values suggest they have conceded more than expected.



Domingo Hernández comfortably leads the league with an insane 7.01 xG prevented and placing him in a league of his own. His total is nearly three goals clear of the next closest goalkeeper indicating the ability to make saves beyond what would normally be expected of someone.
Duncan Walrusson ranks second on 4.07 while Benecio Aguilera III (2.59) and Umaq Yupanqui (2.42) also post strong positive figures, showing they have consistently added value through goalkeeping abilities.

Rean Schwarzer completes the group above one goal prevented with 1.76 while Brick Wall Jr. (0.98) and Turd Ferguson (0.91) remain in positive territory, showing they have also marginally outperformed expectation.

The final two names move into negative territory with Bartholomew Twinkletoes at -0.54 and Cory Stevens at -1.67, they have sadly allowed more goals in than the engine expected.

Clean sheets
Clean sheets are one of the most valued measures of goalkeeper performance and represent the ability to prevent an opponent from scoring over the course of an entire match. While they are also heaivly influenced by defensive strength as well as individual goalkeeping, consistently recording shutouts requires reliability and concentration from all players on the field.



Benecio Aguilera III leads the leaderboard with 5 clean sheets creating a clear gap between himself and the rest of the goalkeepers. His total is more than double that of any other goalkeeper highlighting his consistency and the strength of the team.

A three way tie follows with Umaq Yupanqui, Rean Schwarzer and Turd Ferguson each recording 2 clean sheets. While they remain clear behind the leader all three have shown the ability to deliver the necessary performances when their teams needed them.
The next tier consists of Domingo Hernández and Brick Wall Jr., who each have 1 clean sheet. The final three positions are shared by Cory Stevens, Bartholomew Twinkletoes and Lencho Ash who are yet to record a shutout, sort of a special shout out?
