S27 State of the League

This SotL comes a bit later than usual. The work required to implement an expansion of the league is vast and the crossing of the i:s and dotting of the t:s took the focus during the first two weeks of the season.

Expansion

Speaking of expansion, we have now two new organizations in the league, announcements here and here! All four teams have this week taken their first steps on the pitch during the friendlies and the first competitive matches will happen next week.

As part of the expansions announcements, we detailed the new league structure with 7 teams in each division (and league) facing each other twice and one team receiving a bye during each matchday. The full schedule can be found on the Portal where you can see which teams are playing on each specific matchday.

Another change as a result of the expansion is for the SSL Cup. The two changes are how many and when teams are entered into the competition and how the matchdays will occur. The BoD has voted to implement the following adjustments:

• The four teams that advanced to the semi finals of the previous SSL Cup will be given a bye to the Round of 16.
  
• The remaining 24 teams will enter the competition in the qualifying round, the winners of which will continue to the Round of 16.
  

Given that the qualifying round then will consist of 24 teams and 12 games, it has been split up in three separate matchdays compared to the previous two. They will all air on the same day, with the third premiering in between the two regular time slots, at 17 PM Eastern.

Referral Program

If you didn't know already you are able to refer new users to the league and through our referral system where both the new user and the recruiter are able to earn additional money at set milestones of earned TPE. The milestones and rewards are as follows:

• 400 TPE - $1 million bank deposit
  
• 500 TPE - $2 million bank deposit
  
• 700 TPE - $3 million bank deposit
  
• 1000 TPE - $4 million bank deposit
  
• 2000 TPE - $7.65 million bank deposit ONLY FOR THE RECRUITED PLAYER
  

An addition for this season is that any new users who register before September 6th will be eligible for an additional $2 million bank deposit (for both the referred user and the recruiter) if their player hits 325 TPE by the end of week 6 (Sunday, October 4th). SSL Fantasy Open Beta

After some time behind the curtain, we are now ready to introduce an open beta Fantasy system for the league as a whole. @Daleks has been working hard these past couple of seasons to refine and create the infrastructure that is now running a first public test.

SSL Fantasy is an FPL style game where you try to create an SSL super team using a limited budget, with the aim to score as many points possible and crown yourself as the ultimate SSL manager! The rules and seasonal threads are both in the new Fantasy subforum.

Make sure to read the rules and, when you're ready, go to this season's thread to find out how to submit a team.

Further Fantasy announcements will be done via the @Fantasy role on Discord, which you can opt in to via the role selector channel.

Rule Changes

Finally, as is custom, here follows a summary of rule changes that we have implemented for the S27 season. On top of the league structure rules listed above the only rule change adjusts what is considered a legal tactic submission.

The following changes are implemented in Rule E.3 subsection.

submit a tactic where the tactical formation has fewer than two (2) central defenders or fewer than one (1) striker

submit a tactic where there are more than one (1) player playing on a position outside of their primary or secondary position abilities.

submit a tactic that reduces the competitiveness of the team in a potentially harmful way to the league, including but not limited to player statistics, the game result or the overall integrity of the league. Examples of such submissions include but are not limited to. using very few team instructions, placing the majority of players on their secondary positions, using "known" inefficient role and/or duty combinations, prioritizing playing players with less TPE. A comparison of previously submitted tactics will be used in determining the intent of the submitted tactic in question.

These rules provide both a way for auditors to flag illegal tactics before implementation and for the BoD to punish submissions that reduces the competitiveness of the team and the league's integrity.
