After 7 matchdays in academy we have reached the mid-season point and we can begin to look at how the S28 SSL draft class is starting to shape out both TPE wise and performance wise. The players will be listed by TPE as of September 18th.
Franco Maestro leads the class at 358 TPE. He has been the offensive powerhouse for Stockholm on a team that has been heavily reliant on him for goals. A speedster with 18 Paccel, he has begun to work on his dribbling and finishing skills as he continues to brute force his way on the field. Franco currently has 7 goals and 0 assists this season.
Also at 358 TPE, is fellow Italian and SIK striker, Michele Honcho who whilst he hasn’t scored as many goals in matches, has become more of a threat as the matchdays go by. A very similar speedster build with a slight focus on finishing, technique and composure make him a more refined player than his counterpart. Michele has 1 goal and 2 assists this season.
Third with 341 TPE comes Rylee Knock , an American LAM whose build is more of an all rounder. Able to be a passer, a finisher and a playmaker, she is a threat on the field by her versatility making her a dangerous up front threat for Port Royal. Rylee currently has 4 goals and 2 assists so far this season.
At 339 TPE comes New Zealander Alyssa Barnes, our first defensive player. The RWB playing for Jakarta has been working on getting faster but her strength relies on he solid passing, her work rate and her decision making, allowing PSJ to lead the league in dominant fashion. Alyssa currently has 0 goals and 4 assists.
Also at 339 TPE is Stephen Eustáquisquid from Port Royal. A fast and physical CM, Eustáquisquid has been focusing on controlling the midfield through his decision making, his anticipation and a solid first touch to get the transition game going. Eustáquisquid currently has 0 goals and 2 assists so far this season.
Right behind at 323 TPE is Byakko, a Zimbabwean CM on Victoria Falls. Sporting a less physical build than Eustáquisquid, Byakko has put time in improving her technique, dribbling and anticipation on top of other mental attributes. She looks to dominate the midfield by always being in the right place at the right time, taking away time and space from the opposition. Byakko currently sits at 1 goal and 0 assists.
Our first true CD comes in seventh in the form of Spanish Pau Budget with 323 TPE. Pau is extremely fast compared to his fellow defenders. He also has very good jumping reach that makes him a threat both defensively and offensively. His good anticipation and concentration have been an important asset for Victoria Falls.
Eighth place in the rankings with 320 TPE is American LD, Anthony Privett from Victoria Falls. A fast defenseman whose areas of expertise focus on a good work rate, good anticipation, solid marking & tackling skills as well as a good crossing ability make him a solid defensive option with some offensive upside. Privett sits at 1 goal and 1 assist in this academy season.
Ninth is Canadian CDM Micool CXXXII also at 320 TPE. Playing on the other side of the world for Jakarta, Micool is a late addition to the draft class but is already making his mark on PSJ with solid contributions on both ends of the pitch. He has great pace and sports a variety of attributes at a solid level such as marking, tackling, positioning and anticipation. In 4 games so far this season, Micool is at 4 goals and 1 assist.
At 315 TPE we have tenth place Katherine Valar. The Scottish CM has been playing a tactical game on Stockholm with her all around solid physical and mental attributes. Decent pace, acceleration and agility, she has also good flair, anticipation and vision, making her a more creative midfielder than others on this list. Valar has 0 goals and 1 assist so far this season.
Lastly, also at 315 TPE, we have another Canadian in Carter Black. The CAM has been an absolute threat offensively so far this season. Solid pace, acceleration and with a good jumping reach, he is currently the best passer in the academy league. His ability to dribble or go for goals himself has put him at the top statistically. Carter Black currently has 4 goals and 4 assists this season.
