Weekly Recap with the Managers - S4W3
#1
Catalunya

1. Third week is now completed and the first round of the cup is now completed. Looking forward to the Quarterfinal-fixtures, which one are you looking forward to the most?
Answer: Obviously my own. I'm facing off against the defending cup champions and I really think if we beat them that'll make us favourites. I also think beating the former cup champions on our way to the finals just makes winning the cup feel more special.

2. The goalies are becoming better and better. Last season only 1 goalie finished with an Average rating of above 7. Currently there are 7 goalies above that mark and 2 more just below that. What goalie is the most important for their team in the league outside of your very own?

Answer: I would say mine own given that we're first in the league and they're a large reason why. Cody Hill is another obvious choice given that they lead the league in clean sheets iirc and has been a large part of Toyko's success as well.

3. In honor of theme week, what is a location you would love to see the league expand to next?
Answer: Easy, Santos (or anywhere in Sao Paulo) as well as Milan. Amsterdam would also be sick, but I think Brazil not being represented in a football league kind of sucks ngl. Plus, Argentina have no local rival. Only Australia don't have a continental rival, but like South America boost some of the best players and Brazil are legit the most winning world cup team.

4. Your teams player of the week:
Answer: Hard to pick, but honestly Juha Jarvinen had some quality matches for us last week and that speedy little fuck is just uncatchable. They're so fast, they just intercept all the passes with their lightening quick speed. Man's leading the league in interceptions.

Sydney City FC

1. Third week is now completed and the first round of the cup is now completed. Looking forward to the Quarterfinal-fixtures, which one are you looking forward to the most?
Answer: I'm gonna be selfish, but I can't wait for our game against Accra in the cup. They played really well against us in the league and held us to a 1-1. So hopefully we can make sure we show up over the course of two legs and make it through to the next round!

2. The goalies are becoming better and better. Last season only 1 goalie finished with an Average rating of above 7. Currently there are 7 goalies above that mark and 2 more just below that. What goalie is the most important for their team in the league outside of your very own?
Answer: I think I have to give it to Alexandra Gunnarsson from Catalunya. They've been having an insanely good season and providing massive saves to keep Catalunya at the top end of the table!

3. In honor of theme week, what is a location you would love to see the league expand to next?
Answer: Honestly, I'm not entirely sure! I think having a team based in Brazil just seems like a must just based on the countries storied history in the sport. I can also see a potential for a scandinavian team to come through just based on the sheer talent that they produce in the world of football as well!

4. Your teams player of the week:
Answer: I have to give it to the big man between the sticks. Certified Problem is our player of the week!

AS Paris

1. Third week is now completed and the first round of the cup is now completed. Looking forward to the Quarterfinal-fixtures, which one are you looking forward to the most?
Answer: I think that the Catalunya-Hollywood is the most interesting out of this, two strong teams, and with my Catalunyan blood, I hope Cata makes it through.

2. The goalies are becoming better and better. Last season only 1 goalie finished with an Average rating of above 7. Currently there are 7 goalies above that mark and 2 more just below that. What goalie is the most important for their team in the league outside of your very own?
Answer: Imagine thinking I would say my own. Anyways, I think Gunnarsson for Catalunya has been exceptional this season, putting her signature on the success Catalunya is seeing.

3. In honor of theme week, what is a location you would love to see the league expand to next?
Answer: Italy or Brazil would be great shouts

4. Your teams player of the week:
Answer: I don't wanna give a player of the week. Or actually I am gonna give it to everyone. We had an undefeated week and that deserves no categorising of who did good or bad, we won as a team. Even the bench showed up when needed. So yeah my POTW is everyone!

Athenai F.C.

1. Third week is now completed and the first round of the cup is now completed. Looking forward to the Quarterfinal-fixtures, which one are you looking forward to the most?
Answer: Our matchup against Seoul is definitely one that will have my attention. We have not had much luck in the previous seasons Cup, and Seoul is no small task but hopefully given our previous results against them it will be an easier nut to crack than Hollywood.

2. The goalies are becoming better and better. Last season only 1 goalie finished with an Average rating of above 7. Currently there are 7 goalies above that mark and 2 more just below that. What goalie is the most important for their team in the league outside of your very own?
Answer: I think Tokyo's Kody Hill has really been playing on top of their game for some time now this season. Expected to save around 83.5% of the shots which is third lowest in the league (only Cairo's two keepers are lower) but is 5th in the league with a real save percentage of 78.6%.

Honorable mention to Alexandra Gunnarsson with the lowest difference between expected and actual saves of around 1.8 percentage points.

3. In honor of theme week, what is a location you would love to see the league expand to next?
Answer: Sweden! I almost started a club there in the inaugural season but in the end decided on Athênai because of its rich culture and history.

4. Your teams player of the week:
Answer: Jeffrey LaVert and Nico Fischer are tied. Athênai has finally started scoring and these two has been deadly the past couple of games.

C.A. Buenos Aires

1. Third week is now completed and the first round of the cup is now completed. Looking forward to the Quarterfinal-fixtures, which one are you looking forward to the most?
Answer: That Catalunya vs Hollywood QF is gonna be something to behold. Two great teams who are battling it out. Can’t wait!

2. The goalies are becoming better and better. Last season only 1 goalie finished with an Average rating of above 7. Currently there are 7 goalies above that mark and 2 more just below that. What goalie is the most important for their team in the league outside of your very own?
Answer: I’m hard pressed not to answer Alexandra Gunnarsson right here. One of the biggest reasons the team is doing as good as they are doing at this point in time.

3. In honor of theme week, what is a location you would love to see the league expand to next?
Answer: Of course I would absolutely love another South American team. There needs to be a rivalry over here! If not that, a German team makes too much sense.

4. Your teams player of the week:
Answer: I don’t want to say Oakdown again, despite having another great week. So I will mention another rookie instead! Imbrimovick had an insane showing in our 4-1 win vs Seoul. Coming into the side in a slightly unfamiliar role he just had so much fun!

Inter London

1. Third week is now completed and the first round of the cup is now completed. Looking forward to the Quarterfinal-fixtures, which one are you looking forward to the most?
Answer: I'm biased - looking forward to our Clash against Cairo City. Always fun to go head to head against Azpi, Torres, and co. This time will be no different. They have seem to have found their legs, so I'm excited to see what they can do

2. The goalies are becoming better and better. Last season only 1 goalie finished with an Average rating of above 7. Currently there are 7 goalies above that mark and 2 more just below that. What goalie is the most important for their team in the league outside of your very own?
Answer: CF Cataluyna's Alexandra Gunnarsson - it's not even close. She's single-handidly won them at least 2 games, and we're only 10 games in.

3. In honor of theme week, what is a location you would love to see the league expand to next?
Answer: Ooo, would love to see us add a 2nd South American team for the South American derby! Would also love to see some Scandinavian representation!

4. Your teams player of the week:
Answer: Liang Kuai - this year he's taken more of a creative role on the wings for us. Has like 4-5 assists this week. Definitely our primary creator, even if our game plan isn't necessarily that. So an impressive week from him!

Seoul Mythic FC

Third week is now completed and the first round of the cup is now completed. Looking forward to the Quarterfinal-fixtures, which one are you looking forward to the most?
Answer: If I said anything but Seoul v Athenai I’d be a liar. We’ve finally pushed our way into the cup so we’re excited to make some more noise.

The goalies are becoming better and better. Last season only 1 goalie finished with an Average rating of above 7. Currently there are 7 goalies above that mark and 2 more just below that. What goalie is the most important for their team in the league outside of your very own?
Answer: Gunnarsson has been outstanding for Catalunya this season, it’s hard to put many other keepers in her class.

In honor of theme week, what is a location you would love to see the league expand to next?
Answer: I think somebody needs to spark that South American rivalry, we’ve been talking about it since BA joined the league and that derby has plenty of irl history to make it exciting.

Your teams player of the week:
Answer: It has to be Noodle, a couple of beautiful goals at key moments this week to not only win us a match in the league but also win us our clubs first cup leg. He’s had an exceptional week for the club.

Tokyo S.C.

1. Third week is now completed and the first round of the cup is now completed. Looking forward to the Quarterfinal-fixtures, which one are you looking forward to the most?
Answer: As much as it pains me to watch as we were eliminated last week, I will definitely tune in to see Catalunya vs Hollywood. An expansion team fighting for top of the league versus arguably the first ever SSL powerhouse? Count me in

2. The goalies are becoming better and better. Last season only 1 goalie finished with an Average rating of above 7. Currently there are 7 goalies above that mark and 2 more just below that. What goalie is the most important for their team in the league outside of your very own?
Answer: I think I’d have to go with King Kong for Seoul. He’s put the team on his back on numerous occasions keeping them in games & his numbers back it up. Shout out to Kody Hill though who leads the entire league in clean sheets!

3. In honor of theme week, what is a location you would love to see the league expand to next?
Answer: Given I’m from these two places but they also aren’t terrible locations for a potential SSL team by any means, I’ll go with Vancouver and New York. A potential rival for Montreal either way

4. Your teams player of the week:
Answer: Shout out to Jonas Thessnevitz @enigmatic An absolute revelation on the field flying down the right side, Thessnevitz has exploded on to the scene this season after quietly settling into their role the past few years. Leading the ENTIRE league in assists and average match rating from the left wing back position.

4. Your teams player of the week:
Answer: Direct Free-Kicks

Cairo City

1. Third week is now completed and the first round of the cup is now completed. Looking forward to the Quarterfinal-fixtures, which one are you looking forward to the most?
Answer: I mean, obviously I'm looking forward to our matchup with Inter London the most! There's history there, with my player having played for them during the title-winning season last season, and I have a ton of respect and admiration for TVC and their other users over there, so it should be a blast!

Aside from that, the Catalunya-Hollywood matchup seems to be the fixture with the most overall intrigue from a neutral point of view.

2. The goalies are becoming better and better. Last season only 1 goalie finished with an Average rating of above 7. Currently there are 7 goalies above that mark and 2 more just below that. What goalie is the most important for their team in the league outside of your very own?
Answer: Gotta be Tony "Brick Wall" Yeboah. The man is an incredible goalkeeper, and I've been able to see first-hand and as an opponent how much of an impact he has for London with some of the ridiculous saves he makes.

3. In honor of theme week, what is a location you would love to see the league expand to next?
Answer: Barrow, Alaska. The lore behind the team would be incredible.

4. Your teams player of the week:
Answer: Arnošt Hlemýžď! CoA is a huge part of our team and locker room, and his player continues to improve at a super impressive rate! He's been able to find the back of the net a few times recently, including an absolute BANGER against Hollywood in Matchday 10. He's also been a bit of a Swiss Army Knife for us this season, playing CM, RM, and RWB.
