Start of S10

It is time once again for another season in the SSL and alongside this new beginning comes a post detailing the state of the league.

As the start of the tenth season of the league is today the following can occur:

• - All players whose contract expired can now sign with any team in accordance with their transfer value.
• - All players on their final season of the contract may now sign an extension.
• - All players may claim the S10 Training Camp when it is posted.

PT Tracker

Influenced by the work done in our two affiliate leagues, the ISFL and the SHL, the SSL now also has a PT tracker that is shown at the top of the page. There are still some minor bugs, for instance currently the Training Camp is shown on the Capped TPE area when it is an Uncapped PT but we are working through the issues and hope to have a fix out soon.

The PT tracker keeps track of the currently open PT opportunities for a user and indicates whether or not you have completed them (strikethrough text) or not (normal text). Clicking on the link gets you to either your post showing the completion of the task, which for Capped PTs means you have a direct link you can use in the Update Assistant, or the link to the task if you have yet to complete it.

It is strongly recommended to always use the secured https://simsoccer.jcink.net url when interacting with the SSL forum as we are in the process of phasing out the (unsecured) http sslforums.com that was created at the creation of the league. All of the additional tools created in the past couple of months (the Player Builder, Update Assistant and the PT Tracker etc.) cooperate with an API that works best with simsoccer.jcink.net.

Recruitment Video

For those that are in any of our Affiliate leagues or watched the beginning of the S10 Prospect Draft that aired on June 4th, you might already have seen this. In an effort to try and widen our net of recruiting more users to the league, we have created a video showing off one of the exciting moments in the league from back in Season 1, the SSL Cup Final. Our hope is that the video will help to spread the word about the SSL. You can watch the video here:

Quick Hits

SSL Academy
S9 was the first with the SSL Academy and we've seen the S10 players take some large first steps in their career in preparation for their first official season in the SSL in S10. Nothing new comes without growing pains, so we are going to look into some minor tweaks to make the process as smooth as possible for all participants especially during the switch between seasons that we just recently went through. For now the SSL Academy welcomes the players from the S11 class as they start off the season prior to their draft.

Changes to the Training Camp period
The BoD recently voted in a change in the period of the Training Camp that we had missed with the larger scheduling changes that came about with the Academy. The seasonal training camp will now be open through the entire season and closes only at the end of the off-season.

Accra Relocation
This last week it was announced that Adowa Accra FC has relocated to Germany, more specifically the city of Pforzheim on the border of the Black Forest and are now known as Schwarzwälder Fußballverein. The manager duo of @Duilio05 and @FaraDian brought a very well thought out and convincing proposal for their relocation, the result of which is seen in their post linked above.

TPE Inflation

One final major thing I want to touch on is a discussion we are beginning to have within the BoD. With the addition of the SSL Academy and other long-term factors within prediction PTs, we've seen the projected peak of players in the SSL rise around 100-150 TPE compared to S2-S3. This is worrisome for a couple of reasons, mostly the inability to have an even playing field between draft classes. We are discussing various ways of handling this situation, among them additional changes to the Training Camp (which is why the posting of it is delayed a couple of days). Our aim is to have a short- and long-term plan for the TPE projections done sometime this season.
