So it seems like a lot of action happened today, May 31st, which also happened to be draft day. When I logged onto the forum today, I noticed many trade threads mainly including Athenai, Sao Paulo, and Montreal. The craziest and most impactful move seems to be the trade between Athenai and Sao Paulo. Sao Paulo acquired two top players in the league that have been playing for Athenai for quite some time. First, they acquired Jannick Andersen who is one of the best goaltenders in the SSL. THe user behind Andersen also used to be the manager of Athenai, so the departure of their former backstop and GM will surely be a big blow. Athenai also sent Owen Fourty-Four to Sao Paulo. Fourty Four has the most goals in SSL history and definitely has a claim to be called the best player in SSL history. Sao Paulo gets a lot scarier after this season and Athenai gets much weaker. Despite not being relegated to Division 2, Athenai looks towards the future and possibly puts themselves in the position to be relegated to Division 2 after next season, while Sao Paulo looks to add to their roster to compete for the Division 1 TItle.
