As the next pre-season is already in progress, leading into Beermann’s 5th year in the SSL cosmos, it was time to look back a bit on what had been an eventful 4th Season for the German midfielder. Coming into the season it was already clear that Erik was going to be one of the more ‚Veteran‘ players in the Montreal United squad. Most players of his and the following draft class had already made the trip over to their German partner team, but Beermann’s development had been a little slower than those of his peers. Something that did motivate Erik to add more and more facets to his play.
When at the start he only stuck to staying behind and trying to tackle and intercept whatever came his way, the defensive midfielder now made his way forward with more purpose. In the end it lead to having two assists and three goals – all of which had come from the same game, granting Beermann his very first, and likely last, hattrick of his still young football career. While he did score in only one game during the whole 14 game long season, he sure did impress with that one performance.
On the other side of the coin Erik did also continue his legacy of being a nightmare to attackers all over the world. With no fear of getting dirt on his jersey, sliding and tackling many of his opponents throughout the season. Something that lead to him being sent off only a few minutes into a game early into the season giving him his 2nd red card in his short career, chasing the record of 4 career red cards held by Nifemi Anjorin. If nothing else, Beermann was focused on writing his name into the record books. Even if it meant putting his team down a man at least two more times to equal said record.
