A Day in the Life - Snor Lax's Favorite Restaurants
#1
Having moved to Sydney for the Academy, Snor Lax has had to make some adjustments. His life is pretty much the same. Eat, Sleep, play some footy and eat some more. What has changed though where he finds the enormous amounts of food.. When it comes to the most important aspect of his life, food, he has had to find some new places to eat at. The club is only willing to pitch in so much for his diet (or lack there of) so he’s come to find a few restaurants around Sydney to enjoy. Of course, the first rule of a restaurant is they either have to be an all you can eat buffet or have one of those food challenges in which if you finish a large meal in a certain amount of time, you get it for free. On any given day, Snor Lax will find himself at a few restaurants trying to get his fill.

Two of his favorites are:

  1. Gyuniku (https://www.gyuniku.com.au/menu). A Japanese BBQ and Sushi buffet. A restaurant that not only reminds Snor Lax of home but is delicious too! The restaurant requires a minimum of 2 people but the owners have come to realize when Snor Lax is around, they don’t want a second person so they have waived that rule for him. The restaurant has a loyalty program in which there are 4 tiers. First is New Fan then Silver, gold and finally platinum. Every dollar spent in the restaurant is 1 point earned. To reach platinum status, you need +4500 points. Snor Lax quickly set the record for shortest period of time to reach this prestigious status. . The locals love eating at the same time as him as there is a $25 food wastage fee that they get charged in the event they don’t eat all their food. Fortunately for them, Snor Lax is fine taking on that extra food to prevent the locals from being charged. Just a local sports athlete doing local hero things.
  2. Harts Pub (https://www.hartspub.com.au/menus). Although a pub isn’t typically where you’d find Snor Lax, the Harts Pub has a $45 Monster Burger Challenge. Snor Lax didn’t have burgers often as a child but has grown to love them! This challenge includes 5 BEEF PATTIES, 5 SLICES OF CHEESE, 5 RASHERS OF BACON, MONSTER SERVE OF FRIES, ONION RINGS & JALAPENO POPPERS. If you finish within an hour, you get it for free. After passing the challenge, you get a free t-shirt, harts pub mug and a photo on the wall of burger fame. The first time Snor Lax tried the challenge he ordered two of the burgers and finished them in 30 minutes. It was easy for him. Since then, the restaurant doesn’t allow him to partake in the challenge but does give him a free monster burger if he promotes their pub occasionally. A deal, Snor Lax is more than happy to fulfill.
These are real restaurants in Sydney and the information regarding them is real. I couldn’t find the Monster burger challenge on the pub’s website but it has been mentioned on other sites asking about food challenges in Sydney.

Fun article! I did something similar when writing an article about a team dinner during the academy league.

However, as a food expert, that begs the question, what would Don Lorenzo eat from these restaraunts?

Hello, it's Don Lorenzo again. Sydney, Australia? I hear that's a great party destination, ok? Summer in the winter, beach weather in December! However, today I'm looking at the food from these restaraunts and choosing which is the best. I do enjoy some cuisine, let's see!

From Gyuniku, I'd have to try the Premium Buffet. It's fitting an all-you-can eat buffet is the perfect meal for a Snorlax! What specific food would I get? Well, I'd do my best to try all of them, okay? And I'd be sure to not leave any left over! I do like the not finishing penalty, being wasteful is rude, okay?

From Harts Pub, I'd have to take the Garlic Bread as an appetizer, okay? Always love some Garlic Bread, but hold the cheese! Alongside that, I'd have to try some of the loaded fries, salsa, bacon, sauces, and even the cheese sounds delicious! For the main course, either the Memphis or Down Under burger sound like delicious options! The ultimate one might be a bit too much for my stomach after an appetizer, okay? Also, that chocolate chip cookie desert sounds delicious, just have to make sure there's room!

I'll have to do some more research in Athens and find some food options of our own! I know a good meal can help after a rough loss, and we've done quite a bit of that this season, okay?
