Welcome to the Big (minor) Leagues - Snor Lax
#1
The Minor league has been an adjustment for the big man in net. Snor Lax, coming out of his academy season as arguably the best goal keeper and helping his team lift the Academy League Cup has struggled to get accustomed to the increase in competition within the minor league. Snor Lax, who is on the Rapid Magyar, a young and upcoming team, is lower in the statistical leaderboard than he’s use to.

Through fourteen games, Snor Lax leads the goal keeper leaderboard in a few of the categories…. Unfortunately, these are categories you don’t want to be leading in. Atop the losses board at 10 losses. He is also tied atop the goals conceded list with 52 goals given up in 14 games (average of 3.71 goals against per game). All these goals against also mean Snor Lax is sitting at a measly 68.86 save %, eighth worst in the league. Compared to his expected save % of 79.01, he has room to improve. The last negative statistic that is hurting Mr. Lax is the expected goals prevented. Sitting at -3.96, Lax is fifth worst in the league

Now, Snor Lax isn’t entirely to blame. As previously mentioned, his team is an up and coming team. With an average team of 664 TPE, the team is lagging behind some of the other teams in the league. For reference, the league leaders, FC Kaapstad has an average TPE of 933. Almost 270 more TPE per player, on average. That kind TPE difference is significant and we can see it in the results. The Rapids have only 4 wins in 14 appearances and Snor Lax has faced assault after assault throughout the season. It’s not all doom and gloom though. The Rapids have 3 of the top 10 earners in the league and will be a force in seasons to come.

For Snor Lax, despite the struggles through the beginning of the season, there is a lot of good in his game. Lax leads the league in saves parried, saves held and fourth in saves tipped. Despite giving up the most goals in the league, Snor Lax has the fifth best average match rating at 7.24. Additionally, Snor Lax is one of ten of the goal keepers to have a Man of the Match.

Although the start of the season hasn’t been what Snor Lax hoped for, there are positives in his game and the team will go up from here.
