When I first joined the league whatever number of weeks ago, one of the things that struck me as interesting was the Article structure. I knew I wouldn’t be making much use of a hybrid TPE and money format, since I had oodles of Affiliate claims to stand in, but this is the only league I’m in that still has a grading structure outside of subjective bonuses for exceptional work. SSL also notably doesn’t have a flat word to money scale. Looking at that, I wanted to make sure that my reading was right and got some answers from one of the more experienced members in my Academy team’s channel. My goal was simple, and this is the only league that seems to incentivize this approach, which I’ve now taken to all of my other money leagues. The idea is that a couple hundred words is better than no words. But, unless one is chasing particular word count bonuses or exceptional grades, there is no additional value in any given number of words all compiled into one Article, or split into a few, done as the weeks move along. And so for me, it is much easier to form a couple 200 word thoughts throughout the week, than to sit down and try to slam out a long Article. It might take a while for me to hit a 4/5-worthy stride, but for now, I’ll soak up a few 2/5 and 3/5 hits, and enjoy more money in the bank than if I had written 0 words.

The SSL rubric is definitely a bit outdated.
