It’s Respiratory Illness season here in the North, and Kaspars Kalinins has unfortunately fallen ill. While he may not be able to get out on a pitch, go for a run, or really even do his day-to-day chores, he has been enjoying the extra time to read, to write, and to enjoy some television.
He’s had to be pretty careful about where he goes, as he is sharing a living space with some other Stockholm teammates, who everyone would prefer to not also be out for an unknown amount of time. This has led to some hilarious trips slinking to the fridge, trying to find something to eat before anyone can interact with him. It also led to an interesting shower with a huge spider staring down from the corner.
Part of being a great soccer player is staying healthy, as it tends to be pretty difficult to play your best if you’re not playing at all. It’s good to get these kinds of lessons early in a career, and to work on how to best plan around the inevitability of cold season germs. Adding in the travel via plane, and into foreign countries while interacting with many fans, athletes really do have to work extra hard just to stay healthy, let alone not injured.
