It’s been a struggle for the most part for the young North Shore United club. This season they finished 8th in the standings with a 9-3-10 record, their first losing record since the organization merged with Reykjavik. After many seasons of dominance, the organization consistently drafting low may be catching up to them finally and the rest of the league certainly has. But, this certainly isn’t a lost season. There are many bright spots. The goalkeeping and defense, while not great, is very young with multiple players only in their rookie season. The offense which is generally a bit older was fantastic and had the third most goals in the minor league.
For Zaza Banana’s season, he was involved in all kinds of offensive play. He had 16 goals and 11 assists in minor league play and 3 more goals in the two cup games he played in. This has earned him a contract extension and hopefully a trip from one island to another as he hopes to make the move to the big league club in Reykjavik soon. That probably doesn’t happen for a few more seasons as he is a likely replacement for Alessandro Del Pirlo, who is still very much in his prime.
