Much has been said about the Abuja Four—a set of four young men who showed up on the simulation sports scene around the same time. First on the scene was Chinyelu Sani, a basketball star in the WSBl for Detroit and Columbus. He was quickly followed by two-sport star Prentice Parsons II and now SHL legend M’Baku Olubori. Parsons made a name for himself in basketball (ZCHL) and basketball (The G League) as the consummate steadying quarterback, while Baku was a brash, physical scoring forward with Regina (SMJHL) and Baltimore (SHL) during his lengthy career. While they all had unique personalities and temperaments in how they handled the spotlight, all three of Sani, Olubori, and Parsons were right at home in front of a camera or with a microphone in their faces.
This brings us to the fourth and final member of the Abuja Four, the man who never was supposed to be a professional athlete. Momo Adamu had turned his sights to university, where he was studying to work in Nigeria’s petroleum industry. Sport was always something he enjoyed, as the Abuja Four took to most sports together with the level of enthusiasm only teenage boys really can. Still, Adamu always had his feet on the ground and focused on a life outside athletics and really fell backwards into his SSL career.
Why then, is Adamu so different from his friends? His professional representation must be elite in the way the dip, dive, and dodge all requests for Sani’s public appearances. He shows up, plays, goes home, and lives his life like a normal person as best he can.
What is Momo Adamu hiding?
