Hailing from a small village in County Kerry on the West Coast of Ireland, Phil Space is a relatively unknown player entering the Academy this season. Space plays attacking midfield, typically positioned on the left side of the pitch, but he can play up the middle as well. He grew up playing football in the country, often with just a few friends, but he quickly grew to love the game and understand it on a level much deeper than his friends. Phil is a passionate player who gets fired up easily, for better or for worse in the way it affects his play style.
As he enters academy, he has an attacking mindset. He is quick to shoot and has the ability to launch long range shots, a skill developed in the more open field play of his youth. While he has a bit of a lone wolf mentality, he is looking to develop his teamwork in academy before joining his full time club. He understands that he must develop a more professional attitude if he wants to win anything in the SSL, and that is his ultimate goal. Being from a very rural area, Phil has no allegiances to any clubs, so he is looking to go somewhere he can develop and learn the skills to succeed at this level. While he doesn't go into academy expecting to become a superstar, he does have aspirations of being a top player on a top club competing for hardware year after year.
