[Buenos Aries, Argentina]
"Duck!" The manager yells from his office outside of the locker room. "Come here!"
Louie Duck dropped his towel that he was wiping the sweat off his face with after coming in from a morning practice. He entered the office.
"Sit down, I've got some news," the manager ordered. "Freja's retiring at the end of the season so we're left with a gap in central defence. I'm putting you there to fill her shoes. I've traded Grimes to Xelaju for a younger version of yourself - Seth McNeil." He cocked his head toward the second door to his office that led to the hallway instead of the locker room. "Seth! Get in here."
Seth walked into the office and sat down in the second chair beside a slightly shocked Louie Duck. He pressed his lips together in an attempt to make a smile and nodded towards the waterfowl.
"Seth's going to take your position on the right this season while you're taking over for Gunnarsson's. Any problem with that?" the manager asked heatedly, expecting a fight.
Louie shook his head and looked to his side towards Seth, "Don't screw it up."
No 'welcome to the team,' no words of congratulation, just a tense message that Seth was taking his spot with an unspoken threat that he's ready to take over if Seth doesn't perform.
"Oh yes," Seth thought to himself sarcastically, "I'm so glad to be here."
Taking the awkward silence that followed to mean that the two players have accepted the news, he kicked them out of the office.
Louie didn't continue on any conversation with Seth, just left him in the dust while he went back to his footlocker.
Santori and McManus overhearing and seeing the tense atmosphere attempted some light humour to break up the moment. Seth was going to have to prove himself as far as Louie was concerned. He wasn't going to take this move for granted. This is the majors. Time to dial it up to eleven.
